And now for some MORE Meade Madness. . .
As some of you likely already realize, Meade, Kansas has been in the spotlight among several blogs concerning the ongoing battle between homegrown bigots and Lakeway Hotel owners who originally chose to fly a rainbow flag because it was a gift from their 12-year-old son. Naturally, the local newspaper, "christian" radio station and a collection of local residents decided that a rainbow flag flown on private property was just not acceptable, so after lots of typical rightwing threats and declarations that flying the flag was like "raising the Nazi flag over a Jewish community" - someone came along and ripped it down. The Knights, owners of the hotel/restaurant, are replacing it. . .and they have received thousands of emails in support of their right to fly this flag.

Here is the latest local story about the controversy:

3. hahaha...now THAT is a great idea. . .
I'm afraid if I lived in that town and someone came up and ripped down a flag on my flagpole, they'd be staring down the bottom of the barrel of a shotgun. I can't believe how petty some people can be. . .

5. WTF is wrong with flying a rainbow flag???
What a bunch of fucktards! I feel sorry for ordinary people who have to live with 'holy rollers'. They walk around like someone stuck a tree branch up their butt! Self-righteous POS. Their faces always look like someone is constantly giving them electroshock therapy. Never happy, always pissed off at everyone who smiles and has a good time. It makes their day to ruin other peoples day. They are a waste of oxygen, IMO. Can't fly a rainbow flag...that was a gift from their son...wow. What total garbage.

7. Good grief what a bunch of morans
Waitress Vicky Best, meanwhile, taking a moment between orders as the lunchtime crowd at the eatery blossoms, says such a flag - a symbol of gay pride - has no place in Meade, population 1,600.

"It's hard enough to keep your kids on the straight and narrow without outside influences like that," she complains.

What a friggin idiot!! A flag causes homosexuality?? LOLOLOLOL I have lived all my life in Kansas and I don't think I have heard anything so stooopid. No wonder this state is a national laughing stock.

On a positive note, I am hoping to join a field trip to Meade. It's only an 8 hour drive from here.
