http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/198156790?ltl=1137636380The Al Gore Petition I posted yesterday has since been under intense, malicious Freeper attack... one or more have been stuffing the petition with fake names in a bathroom-humor adolescent style. Since Freepers believe in one-party rule and subverting free and fair elections, it is no surprise that they wish to stifle our support for a politician who represents our issues and speaks to our concerns. Such folks delight in pissing on our constitutional right of free speech- again, no surprise because they also endorse the federal government tinkering with our uteruses and listening in on our telephone conversations without judicial restraint.
That said, in the spirit of free speech and the right to express our opinions in a democracy, I stumbled upon this "Help Back up President B*sh" petition. Must one really support B*sh to participate in this? This petition has a "Comments" column- as I read through them I couldn't help but notice many like these:
"bush you are the biggest TRAITOR that our country has ever had. You need to be IMPEACHED, TRIED FOR TREASON AND HUNG for your crimes against humanity and constitution that you vowed to protect and uphold. As far as I am concerned you are EVIL INCARNATE"
"BURN IN HELL BUSH, BURN IN HELL!"
"I'D NEVER SUPPORT BUSH, HE IS AN IDIOT WITH AN IQ OF 20, and your a bunch of idiots for supporting him."
"Bush, your a devil , you deserve hell, YOU SUCK !" Of course, there are glowing reviews like these:
"I think that President Bush is the 3rd best president in history. Long live Bush!"
"I support President Bush......The Democrats want the USA to lose the war....President Bush wants to win the war....Support the USA and Bush."FREEPERS TAKE NOTE: the petition-signers who opposed B*sh
had the BALLS and INTEGRITY to use their REAL names, abide by the 'one vote per person' rule, and exercise their First Amendment Right of Free Speech that you say our soldiers in Iraq are fighting and dying for. You fu*cking hypocrites. We can defend democracy in Iraq, but usurp it at home? Keep stuffing petitions with bullshit, if you have nothing better to do (and I doubt that you do)... someone will weed out your crap, the petitions you don't like will survive, as you continue to dishonor our soldiers in Iraq who wholeheartedly support and love our Constitution, and are there (so you believe) that we may protect our freedoms at home. That includes speech YOU don't like.
DUers who would like to exercise their First Amendment right on this petition, why not? We at DU are not afraid to use our real names, we do not stuff petitions with garbage, we only vote once, and respect freedoms protected by our Constitution.
