Convoy hit near Lebanon border
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4078660.html

Israeli artillery hit a convoy evacuating villagers from southern Lebanon today, slightly wounding a journalist and a driver.
In today's convoy attack, Mohammed Naghawi, a Jordanian cameraman working for German TV Channel N24, told The Associated Press by telephone that he and his driver Mohammed Haddad were rushed to U.N. peacekeeping headquarters at the border town of Naqoura for treatment of superficial injuries at hospital there.

An AP photographer in the convoy, who was unhurt, said the explosion occurred as the ambulances, evacuees and journalists were returning from the village of Rmeish, where it had picked up residents trapped by the fighting.

The convoy was driving on a border road about 2 1/2 miles east of the coastal town of Naqoura, when the strike hit.

The injuries appeared superficial. The driver, who wore a bulletproof jacket, had some cuts on the neck and right arm, but was conscious and walking when he was taken in for treatment at the U.N. hospital.

2. A suspected terrorist was amongst them. So we shot @ them all.
Whew. That's a great strategy. Kinda like the US strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. They're trying to 'clean" the entire area...
Civilians as well as Hezbollah. They need their buffer zone so they can call a ceasefire.

4. Israelis targeting ambulances & vehicles clearly marked with press logos
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 10:50 AM by Divernan
The first link in the OP details Israelis targeting ambulances.
The gist of the second article/link in the OP is that the Israelis are deliberately and repeatedly targeting vehicles and cars clearly marked with TV station/media logos. In one incident, the Israeli jets were playing a sadistic cat and mouse game of chasing the clearly marked press vehicles, and bombing the roads behind and ahead of the vehicles until the press crew abandoned the vehicles and started walking. The response of an Israeli Defense Forces spokesman to these charges? "We are targeting the roads because Hizbollah uses the roads. Under no circumstances do we target civilians, including the media."

What a sarcastic, sadistic response. The Israelis piously claim they are warning people to leave their apartment buildings/ homes before the Israelis bomb them, and then target the very roads needed by the civilians to evacuate.

(from the second link in the OP)

Israel 'targeting Arab journalists'
A leading journalist freedom group today demanded an "immediate investigation" into reports that Israel is targeting Arab television crews operating in southern Lebanon. It is the latest in mounting criticism that Israel is making little distinction between civilians and combatants in its campaign in Lebanon.

The Committee to Protect Journalists' (CPJ's) call came after several Arab TV stations said Israeli aircraft fired missiles within 75 metres of them on July 22, in an apparent bid to stop them covering the effect of Israel's bombardment around the town of Khiam. So far, at least two journalists and media workers have been killed, and another seven wounded since fighting began on July 12, following the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers by Hizbollah guerrillas.
In all, at least 420 Lebanese have been killed since the start of the fighting, most of them civilians, while 52 Israelis have died, including 34 military personnel.

The strikes in question were directed at TV crews, especially those of the independent satellite channels Al Jazeera and Al-Arabiya and the Hizbollah-affiliated Al-Manar channel, said Ghassan Benjeddou, Al Jazeera's Lebanon bureau chief. "It's a miracle that our crew survived the attack," Benjeddou told the CPJ.

Today, press freedom group Reporters Without Borders (RWB) said its secretary-general Robert Menard had gone to Beirut to meet with executives and editors of media outlets hit by Israeli air strikes, including the private Lebanese Broadcasting Corp and the Hizbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV station.
