on CNN International, they had a short discussion, where it was determined that lebanon would represent Hezbolah, and the US would represent Israel's position. Is this accurate? Why are we even bothering having these talks?

1. Lebanon is representing Hezbollah?
That's seriously messed up. Lebanon would/should be representing Lebanon. As to the US representing Israel, who could tell the difference anyway.

3. To make progress, Iran is needed.
That's the country playing Hezbollah like a proxy army, with Syrian support - something that neither Israel nor Lebanon like at all. Hence the big billboards in Tehran showing pictures of Nasrallah and "reminding" Muslims that it's their "duty" to destroy Israel.

I think it's gotten to the point that it is a "shirts/skins " ballgame. Then in the first quarter, the shirts take off their shirts and NOBODY knows who is on who's side.
