4. Been there. Did that.
But they are asking if it was a violation of civil rights.

The fact is, it was, but it was also unquestionably illegal.

8. What is WRONG with these people??
Do they think THEY weren't spied on? Do they think, just because they might not make calls to the middle east, nobody peeked at their emails? Do they think... at all???

11. This poll is similar to the one they are running on excite.com today...
(I know, I know... its a Freeper heavy site) But here it is none-the-less.

Former Vice President Al Gore called yesterday for an independent investigation of President Bush's domestic spying program, contending the president "repeatedly and insistently" broke the law by eavesdropping on Americans without court approval. (AP)

Do you think an independent counsel should be appointed to investigate whether the Bush administration’s domestic eavesdropping program violated the law?

Yes 47% => 7222 votes

No 50% => 7644 votes

I'm not sure 1% => 214 votes
Current number of voters: 15080

What ever happened to the "Don't want the government in my business" Republicans? Isn't that their rally cry?? Fucking idiots. :eyes:

12. done, howdy neighbor, and a belated welcome to du, Anywho6...
Yes 321 48%
No 345 52%

the spying is plenty bad enough, but it is my clear sense that the bfee will not only/merely utilize such assets for 'national security', if ever indeed they do, but are imo more likely to seek and gain advantage in more common things that benefit them such as international contracts, capitol formation, leveraged acquisition ala carlyle group and so forth.

i simply do not trust republicans to bring any sense of civil discourse to the table

The public education system has failed.]

Technically, I don't think this is a civil rights issue, though. Maybe people are just splitting hairs.

Right. :eyes:

25. Also on the page with the poll...
is an inmate dying in the Tuolumne County jail. I lived in that county for many years and recall when a person died in custody BEFORE they were ever booked in the jail. Good old boys reign in that area of California.
