Now...Bush decides to speak at NAACP convention

Changing course, Bush decides to speak at NAACP convention

WHITE HOUSE Every year since taking office, President Bush has turned down an invitation to speak to an N-double-A-C-P convention. Until now.

He'll address the group's annual meeting on Thursday in Washington.

An administration spokesman says the change of heart springs from a chance for Bush to tout his civil rights record and play "an important role" in making the case for unity.

Bush had been the only president in recent decades not to address the group's annual convention. Thursday's speech also comes ahead of midterm elections in which the G-O-P fears losing control of Congress.

4. "He'll address"...!
What a foockin tool he is. Stupid and transparent is such a boring combination, a producer of universal groans. To reverse his prior precedent, and finally do the right thing, shows W once again as "a day late, a dollar short, and a block away."

I think that his "address"---if not newsworthy for some new gaffe---will recede unquoted, but the response to it will be more advantageous for the NAACP. Can't wait to hear about Q&A, press remarks, spokespeople, or eyewitness accounts of this event.

Will all incumbent Republican fringers and neo-cons please fasten this millstone firmly about your necks!

7. He spoke to the NAACP in 2000
and has snubbed them since. He is scared to death of being impeached if the Dems take Congress, and he'll do anything, including talking to the NAACP to stop it.

10. It doesn't matter what he says, it's the photo that counts

"George Bush kisses a Negro,
thereby proving to middle class
white voters that he's not a bigot."

11. They ought to all turn their backs on him.
Just like Chimp turns his back on voter rights for minorities.

Turn your back on Bush!
