Can you help with this freeper email.......
I received this from a freeper friend, his browser sends me this stuff all the time I'm quite sure without his knowing it. Anyone care to respond to this? Is it true?

Gee…….. I wonder what we’d call FDR today if the media and the Democrats used the same rules to define him as they do “W” in the current political world? FDR must have been one of the biggest liars of all times... or was it LBJ? or Al Gore?, or Jimmy Carter? Term limits sound like a good idea, anyone?

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this, here’s some interesting info. Its easy to check out if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on whats what .

Our Social Security

Many years ago in Seattle, two wonderful neighbors,
Elliott and Patty Roosevelt came to my home to swim on
a regular basis. They were a great couple full of
laughter and stories that today I continue to marvel
at. Both are now deceased, but their stories remain.
During the years of our friendship we had many, many
discussions about Elliott's parents (President Franklin D.
and Eleanor Roosevelt) and how his father and mother
never intended for the Social Security and Welfare
programs to turn out the way they are today. Elliott
used to say that if ! his parents returned to earth and
saw what the politicians had done to their programs
they would have burned all of them in hell.

Here is a story I received today regarding the Social
Security Program and I immediately thought of
Elliott's comments. I Hope you will read
this and think about it.

_____________________________________________

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month --
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to "put
away" -- you may be interested in the following:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically
controlled House and Senate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
"tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving
annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violating
of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats
turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed
citizens believe it!

3. For one thing, it was the people's representatives that did all this
If it passed Congress and was signed by an elected president, the changes could be made whether FDR would have liked them or not. When he wasn't President, he wasn't President. When LBJ was President, it was because the nation had elected a democratic president.

Freepers are so dumb.

6. I got this from a freeper friend
Gosh wouldn't it be fun to pose as liberals and post at Democratic Underground. We could use all that Freeper Spam and post it there and like totally blow their minds. They wouldn't know what hit them!

But in answer to your questions; Republicans don't like Social Security and want to destroy it; they've been pretty open about this. If they can't destroy it in the short term, they can at least cripple it, and move in for the kill later.

Why else would a Bush advisor say that for the first time in 60 years we 60 years we can win the argument on Social Security? What argument were conservatives making 60 years ago?

Typical Bee-ess. When you tell the originator he/she is full of it, be sure to hit "reply to all" so that his/her entire list sees the answer. That'll likely get him/her to stop sending you these annoying lies.

Jesus. My deepest sympathies. And yes, it's from Snopes. This thing's been floating around the net for over a year now. It's nothing new; it's a slanted pack of half truths put out by people who want to privatize S.S. and grind down the poor of this country into an even finer grain of dust. Ahhhh Nutz.

13. but who puts these out? I'm dying to know..
Do these kinds of things come from a bored private citizen... or do they come from American Enterprise Institute, or the Heritage Foundation, or what. I tend to think that there are operatives somewhere getting paid to do stuff like this.

20. That's an interesting question and one I've also been curious about..
Especially when you consider just how damn HUGE some these emails are that are sent out. What kind of private citizen would take so much time and effort to write this stuff?

27. It would be fun if we could write one
Pick a subject they care about. Say, their love of zygotes. And make up a bunch of lies and half-truths and send it out into the ether. I think we could probably find some evidence that Bush I was a supporter of Planned Parenthood.

We could make up a mythical couple who used to drink and snort coke with * and Pickles and have them telling tall tales about them to the neighbors.

11. And an explanation
When folks here see someone with a very low post count posting things like this, they tend to suspect the poster is a troll. I did that once on the Kerry "debunker," and it took quite a bit of convincing that I was honestly looking for help.

post until now. Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to tell him where to get off, because I get a kick out of getting this stuff from him. He's a friend, but I'm quite sure he wouldn't be sending me this stuff on purpose. Some of it is quite outrageous, and I'm quite sure he wouldn't want me to see most of it.
