A spider comes out on my porch at dusk each night to weave a new web....
to catch it's prey -- I watch it nightly and, like clockwork, at dusk, it comes out and begins its task, patiently, tirelessly weaving a new web each day, going 'round and 'round, crisscross, until it's good enough to catch the insects it needs to survive. It dawned on me that's exactly what the Republicans do -- everything by design -- they have woven an intricate web of deception, fraud, fear and, like the spider, they are dependent on weaving that web to catch their prey -- unsuspecting, unthinking Americans -- or they'll die.

Okay, okay, I realize it's a simple, perhaps silly, little tale, but sometimes we miss the obvious, most simple aspects of what is going on around us. Watching nature, you soon learn, only the cleverest, strongest survive; and, that is what we are up against.

3. Except that spiders usually eat the bugs you don't want in your
yard. In our case the neo-cons are the bad bugs that need to be trapped and eaten. Who are the spiders going to be that do it?

4. We Dems are presently more like the "eentsy-teensy spider"
We keep climbing up our water spout, getting washed out, and climbing back up again. Someday we'll get to the top. Of course, we don't really know what's there.... or what we'll do when we get there.

5. I take exception....
....to you comparing a spider to a Republican....a spiders' bite is nowhere near as painful and venomous as a Republicans' bite....

6. When I was young there was a big wolf spider that lived on our deck
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 11:10 PM by MidwestTransplant
HUGE. He had a tunnel web and somtimes I would catch insects and toss them in his web to feed him. Amazing to watch him pop out from within his crevice grab the insect that I threw in. Don't know if I can extrapolate that to Republicans or not but I thought it fit with your spider theme.

7. I've twice been bitten
and the bites take forever to heal.
I had to have one bite surgically removed; it was a big lump that formed on my inner knee. The scar looks somewhat like a spider, coincidentally...with four stitches and a big slash in the middle.

I've thought of having one tatooed over the scar. But twice bitten, I am now totally shy of spiders and keep my distance. Also, I think a spider tatoo would be going too far for me personally.

8. shoot... I thought this was going to be a "never give up" story
Some inspiration is always welcome.

However, your point is a good one. And you know, even when their polls are in the septic tank, those Republicans never give up weaving those webs. Maybe "never give up, never give in" is a lesson the Democrats could take to heart, except of course without the evil.
