I just saw "An Inconvenient Truth"

Yeah, I know it's a wee bit late, but hey, I'm in Mississippi, cut me some slack. It like just came here =)

Wow. It really opened my eyes. I mean, I try my best to be enviromentally friendly (I usually go as far as trying to recycle and turning off the water when I wash my hands/brush my teeth) but, wow. After seeing this movie, I really wanna try harder, but, in the land of SUV's and magnolias, I really don't know how to. Anyways, I just wanted to tell ya'll how awesome of a movie i thought it was and how I'm trying to be more enviromentally friendly =D

3. After I saw it......I felt so proud!

Al Gore is a precious soul....What an amazingly simple, factual documentary. Even kids from the age 8-9 love it.....Here....take a look at mine with Ohio Congressional Candidate, Stephanie Studebaker....she is hugging them. They have not seen her for a few weeks.....spontaneous joy!

4. I saw it today as well

It was so painful to think what might have been with such a brilliant man in the white house compared to the idiot we have there now. My wife was in tears several times. A very powerful movie.

5. I walked out of that movie wanting to give up my car

It's really an eye opener.

7. I saw it Fourth of July weekend

when I was visiting my mom in Orlando. The movie was fantastic. I so admire Gore for what he has done.

When the movie ended, the audience applauded! That was amazing, because Orlando is not exactly a progressive stronghold. The theater was crowded, almost at capacity, in spite of the fact that it was the weekend Superman opened! :)

The whole experience was something to behold.

8. Wish i could have been where you were

instead, i was in Madison, Mississippi where like 8 people at the most were in the theater and there was no applause. =(

9. Saw it today, too (Arkansas)

It was a real eye-opener. I was halfway dreading it because I didn't want to leave the theatre with an "Oh god, we're fucked" kind of feeling. So I was quite pleased when Gore said we have everything we need right now to correct the situation. We CAN turn things around if we demand it of our polticians and of industry.

I was SHOCKED when Gore said we can't sell US cars in China because US autos don't meet the emissions standards set by the chinese government.

Talk about WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

I also liked his line about how political will is in short supply right now but it IS a renewable resource.

If you haven't seen this film already, GO GO GO. Powerful message delivered beautifully.

11. Saw it last night too

Can't stop thinking about it, implemented several "take action" steps today. So much of his heart and life he poured into the movie too. And he left us with some hope - that was the surprising part. It does make it hurt all the more that he is not/has not been our president. How I hope against hope that everyone sees it. Such beautiful photography as well.

16. Oh yeah.

Just saw it for the third time about a half hour ago.

Gore is still MY PRESIDENT!

He's signing copies of his book locally in a couple of days and I'm going to be there.

It also served to make me even madder that that ass James Inhofe who is chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, compared it "Mein Kampf." Grrrr.

And I'll second the recommendation for Who Killed the Electric Car? which I saw the other week. It's not as technically well made as AIT, but it is good and interesting material.

Even a little thing like cutting back on driving, as much as possible, can help. And how about planting some more of those magnolias? (They won't grow this far north so I have to experience them vicariously!)

15. Keep recommending the movie

This wasn't a movie we were supposed to see. Here in NE Ohio for awhile it was only in one theater in Cleveland, but now it is right here in Akron at a multiplex, so more people will see it. Everyone who sees it tells everyone they know to see it, so word keeps spreading. And thanks to the basic greed of the theaters, they'll keep showing it if folks keep showing up.

I saw the movie on Cape Cod a few weeks ago. The theater was packed on a Sunday afternoon. It was such a good feeling because the audience had young, old, middle-aged, wealthy, not-so-wealthy. When the movie was done, the whole place applauded.
