Bush makes pig jokes, Beirut burns
But reporters were looking for more than humor in historic Stralsund this day.

"Apart from the pig, Mr. President, what sort of insights have you been able to gain as regards East Germany?" a German reporter asked the American leader.

"I haven't seen the pig yet," said Bush, sidestepping the question about insights gained from his two-day visit to this rural seaside region that once rested behind the Iron Curtain in a Germany divided between East and West.

And when an American reporter asked Bush whether he is concerned about the Israeli bombing of the Beirut airport and about Iran's failure to respond to an offer for negotiations that the U.S. and European allies have made, Bush replied with more boar jokes before delving into the substance of the questions.

"I thought you were going to ask about the pig," said the president, promising a full report from the barbecue. "I'll tell you about the pig tomorrow."

8. There is something profoundly wrong with our society
when such an ignorant, unqualified, corrupt, criminal, moron can become President.

Our standing and prestige in the world may never recover.

11. Just saw the video of the reporter asking Bush about the bombing of the
Beirut airport, and Bush, saying, "I thought you were going to ask about the pig." Chancellor Merkel's face was an open book. She was obviously shocked that Bush thought that a joke was an appropriate response to a very serious question. Her look said, "OMG! Did he actually say that? How stupid!"

Bush is an embarrassment.

14. that's FOUR times--he's utterly fixated on that pig
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 10:49 PM by MisterP
it doesn't even look that good: like an overall-burn-ward patient.
Of course, the last time he went to a burn and amputee ward, he said "I got injured too!" and showed off a boo-boo he got from cutting cedars on his play farm with the 5 cows.
“I’m looking forward to that pig tonight,” “I understand I may have the honor of slicing the pig,” and “I haven’t seen the pig yet,” in
response to a question about East German life "apart from the pig."
He may need his dosage checked.

16. Exactly! Can you imagine if Clinton had talked about food?!
:eyes:

We heard enough "news stories" about his McDonald's runs when everything was going well... can you imagine what would have been said about him if he'd been thinking about food at a time like this?

17. and also the time when they said something was wrong with Gore ...
After the 2000 election, the right-wingers derided him and said that he had become fixated on food and was gaining weight ... and said it was "proof" that he was too unstable to be President.
