Tom Petty: Bush "Is Going To Have His Day In Hell"
Late Night : Tom Petty Bashes Bush and Iraq War

Tom Petty has not been one to frequently mix his politics into his music. I guess drastic times call for drastic measures -- and I applaud him for this interview in the new Esquire :

"The war in Iraq is shameful. Whether you're pro or con Bush, you've got to admit: The guy lied. And he continues to do so. I can't understand why he's just not run out on a rail. To send somebody's kids off and have them killed for no good reason--he's going to have his day in hell for that. I wouldn't want that karma

When you kill somebody's little sister with a missile, he's going to hate you forever. And the next generation will hate you even more."

13. Too bad I am agnostic:
He will have is day when Americans get the nerve up to 'tar & feather' him and exile him like
the Romans did.

28. I may have to become religious just to believe
that someday this moran* will face some kind of judgement, other than going into the ground and rotting.

2. I love that man
He's one of my ALL TIME favorite rockers. The best part of this quote is picturing him speaking it. I love his voice.

29. I'm right there with you... I LOVE Tom Petty.
He has been one of my favorites since the 80's. I saw him in concert once in Denver... It started puring down rain, but the crowd stayed and cried out for more encores.

3. Poor Tom.
He's right and everything, but he doesn't know dookie about the mind of The Freepoidals that walk amongst us. Bush may have lied, but those poor dumb bastards will go to their graves denying it, even if The Chimp himself jumps up and down in front of them, buck naked, screaming "I lied to you, you stupid fuck! I lied and you bit!"

6. Other than the nekkid part, jr does all the other stuff as a routine.
They ignore it. If they admitted they had been deceived they would be admitting they were stupid asses.

18. excellent interview
Edited on Tue Jul-11-06 06:51 AM by marions ghost
Dean was pushing his book "Conservatives Without Conscience" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0670037745/102-5444986-6716118?v=glance&n=283155

OK so one reviewer calls Dean "complaining." Well SOMEbody ought to be complaining.

I hope all those "true" Republicans" --who consider themselves honest and upstanding--will read this.

25. Those are corporate mediawhores'
key Orwellian words to describe the masses reactions, i.e., "complaining", "hasseling", "whining"..ad infinitum.

We need to take back the media as well as the government.

So many times we see the most selfish, evil people - live long healthy lives. Bush has money, that doesn't hurt either

8. You and me both, Tom
>>I can't understand why he's just not run out on a rail.<<

That's been puzzling me for years.... Although I think its because we have become a MacDictatorship which believes it's own propaganda.

In very simple language, Tom has cut through the smoke and mirrors of the claims and actions of the NeoCons, and how they have led us into disaster.

14. here's something Denis Leary said about W.
"Bush is supposedly the perfect family man who goes to church and all that, yet he's one of the biggest fuckups who has ever been in office -- a true moron when it comes to leading the country. If that's a perfect guy, I'll take the flawed guys ."

That's from the August Playboy. Also there's a good little piece by John Dean, though it's very short.

15. K&R...Petty told W to stop using "Won't back down" in 2000.
Bush would use it at rally's. How about that, the guy just shut W down, hard.

I couldn't agree with him more. Bad karma is putting it right where it belongs.

23. I like how Tom Petty
frames that! "The war in Iraq is shameful. Whether you're pro or con Bush, you've got to admit: The guy lied. And he continues to do so. I can't understand why he's just not run out on a rail. To send somebody's kids off and have them killed for no good reason--he's going to have his day in hell for that. I wouldn't want that karma.

"The guy lied"..There's a devastating bumpersticker in there somewhere!

Must get some Tom Petty music!

31. I think of it more as
The Iraqi child that was 12-14 when this war started. Well he's gonna be 16-18 now. He's had no schools, perhaps no parents, no electricity, no food, no water, but he is going to have a lot of hate. The war has raised a generation of hate in Iraq.
