Are there advantages at being an "underdog"?
Does it work in politics as it does in sports? Do the people naturally pull for an "underdog"? Of course, the Democratic Party never defines itself as an "underdog", but as an equal on the political stage. But is it really "equal" to the Republican Party?

Democrats have been under the illusion for some time that "money" alone can level the playing field. However, this is a strategic mistake to think money alone can resolve other deficiencies. Republicans understand that "money" is used to get out their message. If they can get out their message without money, then money becomes less of a factor. And they have been able to get out their message thru free media, talk radio, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, etc...

We are truly an "underdog" Party. The only place we hold an advantage is that there are more of us than there are of them. But we don't realize that fact. Because we have lost our vision as a Party and who we support. Basically, the Republican Party represents the monied interests. We represent everyone else. Of course, the person that signs the paycheck has more power than the 100 employees working under him. We must work within those parameters, which means, we must work together to be effective. Because they have the power and the money that is needed, when it is needed, and we only have people. That is the power of the Democratic Party.

8. more importantly;" There's no need to FEAR!!!
..Underdog is here!"

because Underdogs don't manipulate people through fear-

FDR pointed that truth out so well-
* is playing on fear, and his game is about up-

2. Republicans are the underdog. They whine about it constantly.
They control all branches of the Government and the media and yet we keep "blocking" their big plans of for America like a flag-burning amendment.

Poor GOP underdogs. They say so!

4. That's right.
They portray themselves as underdogs, even when they control every branch of government. And they use that to their advantage.

5. Precisely. There is an advantage to being PERCEIVED as the underdog.
Even now, years after pretty much tacking control of all the reins of power, Republicans complain about how they are suffering from Democratic control.

Same thing with Radical Christians. You'd think they were being hunted down in the streets from their rhetoric.

The leadership of both groups inspire a persecution complex amongst their constitutents, turning them into fear filled, foaming at the mouth reactionaries. A single word of disagreement with one of their policies and they are convinced they are witnessing the leading edge of armageddon.

They are a completely programmed populace. Sad.

3. Depends on who the "underdog" is.
I don't see the world pulling for the Palestinians or Nativve Americans. I don't think underdogs of dark skin have any advantage, ever.

7. the real advantage to being an underdog, is the
knowledge that you haven't sold your soul in order to win-
That even though you may lose continually, and may struggle perpetually, what you fight for, and struggle towards is worth the effort- and that selling out would be worse than death.

Overlords sit where they do, after climbing over the lives of many- And eventually the stench of their journey will waift up to their perch on the top of the heap. They also have to continually fight to keep their position of power, because they arrived where they did, not as a result of being lifted up by those who respect and trust them, but as a result of deciet, manipulation, and sweetheart deals.

When true underdogs become leaders, they get there WITH the help and un-coerced support of those who seek a leader that is worthy of following.

The world could use more underdogs,- The Dem. party IS the party who champions the causes of those who have been cast aside, (underdogs)- and while we may not win as often as we'd wish, to compromise in order to win, would be to become an overlord.

Our time will come, the tide rises, the tide falls, and the tide is changin.

The Democratic party is the party of real people- not corporate personhoods- or radical agendas- And because of that, we will never cease to win in the end. No matter how things may 'seem'.

I believe this with all my heart.
