Former President Gerald Ford Hospitalized

Former President Ford was undergoing treatment for pneumonia Monday at the same facility where he was briefly hospitalized a month ago, his chief of staff said. He was said to be doing well.

Ford, 92, was admitted Saturday to Eisenhower Medical Center near his home in Rancho Mirage in Southern California, Penny Circle said.

"Based on his age it is prudent for his initial course of treatment - IV antibiotics - to be done at the hospital," Circle told The Associated Press.

Ford was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday or Thursday, she said.

"He's doing very well," she said.

1. Dang, I have a father about his age
who keeps bouncing between nursing home and hospital.

I sympathise with his family. It's tough on everyone.

3. Why was this 'breaking news' on CNN earlier today but Ford
was admitted in the hospital on Saturday? Btw, I hope he gets to feeling better.

4. Ford is pro-choice
and for that, I respect him infinitely more than most other Republicans.

Get well soon, Mr. President.

6. I met him when he was VP. I would trade him right now for the goon that
sits in the WH now, even at 92.

10. Ford was an apparatchnik who covered for Nixon AND the Warren Commission
On the other hand, I too would far prefer he were president than the Talking Chimp...

15. That says something, doesn't it? That we would rather have this guy
as POTUS than the idiot son we have now.

Also, from my home state.

Get well, President Ford.

8. I wish him a speedy recovery
Unfortunately, many old people never recover from pneumonia. My grandmother who was 90 was very healthy. She caught pneumonia and was dead in 6 weeks.

9. Hope he gets well . . .
. . . he's a decent guy.

'Course there are the little matters of the pardon.

And the Warren Commission.

But . . . all in all, he's Jesus Christ reincarnate, compared to Raygun and Shrimp.

16. He's a Flying Wallenda compared to Boo$h, too.
Chevy Chase made a career out of lampooning Ford yet our asslick media tells us that Chimpy's the great athlete.

the WC thing has always bugged me, too. Did he appoint Boo$h Sr. to the CIA spot (which in reality GHWB probably appointed himself and GF went along).

17. Yeah, I think GF just went along with it . . .
. . . he had no idea how nasty GHWB was. Indeed, it is sometimes hard for me to believe. But he is.

punishment for pardoning Nixon?

13. I wish him well
He's old and not well. I do hope there will not be any bullshit conspiracy theories about Ford croaking as a cover for the Abramoff scandal, and other Bush dirty laundry.

18. From the administration which...
... gave us Donald Rumsfeld as the War Secretary the first time.

HST quoted Ford in the scathing obituary of Nixon featured in "Better Than Sex": 'I know I am going to hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon'.

America has come a long way down in 30 years when Ford is waxed nostalgically on DU.

I just think of the neocons birthed within the veneer of his 'moderate Rockefeller Republican' presidency...
