I guarantee the WH will change their story tomorrow about SC ruling....
Whatever they say today will change tomorrow. They will keep spinning until they come up with what they think is a credible lie - or "spin" in their language. Just like they kep spinning after the invasion of Iraq when they found no WMDs or nuclear materials, they fianlly ended up with "building democracy in the Middle East". They must have told about 5 different stories before they settled on the "democracy" rationale.

I suspect this ruling by the Supreme Court will spin them for a few days before they can come up with something their sheep will believe, The bottom line, according to the Supreme Court, was that what Bush and his Cabinet did was "illegal". Illegal means it was against the law. It's difficult to find another definition for "illegal". And who's to question the Supreme Court? Even Al Gore submitted to their ruling...

1. The Irony is
that this court is comprised of their own hand picked jurors. They whine about activist judges, appoint their own and get bit in the ass for listening to their boy Abu Gonzales.

2. If the President supersedes Congress
Why in hell would they obey the Supreme Court?

3. I have a question. What will happen if Bush ignores the ruling?
What are the repurcussions? If the adminstration continues doing as they have been (as usual) without any regard to the ruling except words, I don't see who will stop them - who will enforce the ruling. How is that supposed to work?

5. He has already said he'd turn to the Congress in order not to abide
by SCOTUS's ruling. From what I could gather from the majority opinion, they left out a few paragraphs here and there that would've bolstered their case for tribunals. I think he'll continue doing whatever he's doing and have Congress write another bill and then if that one gets overruled through the courts, it'll be lather, rinse, repeat.

In the meantime, the detainees aren't going anywhere and the journalists and humanitarian workers aren't allowed anywhere near them. So much for SCOTUS reinforcing compliance with the Geneva Conventions. x(

8. I too am in the dark about the repercussions and enforcement,
but it seems to me the more arrogant he becomes the more likely it is he will step on enough of the wrong toes such that impeachment will eventually (and maybe even sooner than later) become a likelihood.

6. I'm not surprised, but I still find it incredibly scary..
that all the "conservative" Judges ruled that it's just fine and dandy that Bush doesn't follow the law or protect and defend the Constitution.
