Why does it seem that..

...most of the Republicans I know get all their news and information from chain letters?

Here's one I got today:

Marine Corp's General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other
day and you have to read his reply to the woman who interviewed him
concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun
laws you gotta love this!!!!


This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.

It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a
female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was
about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.


FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you
going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?


GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing,
archery, and shooting.


FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?


GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised
on the rifle range.


FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous
activity to be teaching children?


GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper
rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.


FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent
killers.


GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute,
but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.


You gotta love the Marines!

I listen to NPR a lot and I know a lot of their shows are pre-recorded anyway, so that was a major red flag. I would probably be more prone to believe something like that was said on Fox only because they don't debate on that channel - they usually AGREE on everything, or have like one democrat on and five extremist republicans interrupting/attacking the Dem every second and they can't get a word in. Then when they find their guest is making too many good points then it's time to go to commercial. haha

14. I've never really....

...thought much about politics and when I was 18 my father registered me to vote. I got my card and it said "Republican." I know he didn't mean to impose, but we were raised in a Christian household so I guess he just assumed this is the affiliation I wanted. To be honest, I didn't think much of it at the time. I was a VERY late bloomer when it came to things of the political sort but I began thinking more about everything when I was 21 not too long after 9/11. That's what opened my eyes to a lot of things. I began to do something very odd: I started thinking for myself. I stopped listening to the pre-packaged BS that people feed and began questioning things that I never had a reason to question. I began to see most (not all) Republicans as wolves in sheep's clothing. They mask their hatred behind patriotism and religion. After all, why do you want to write hatred into The Constituation in order to prevent gays from marrying somebody they love. Would that be the first time an amendment would have actually "taken something away" rather than "extended more priviledges"? I also don't understand how anybody that is a true Christian can appear so hateful. I find it ironic that dems/progressives show more compassion and love for the fellow man than those whose religion is supposed to be one of peace, understanding and "loving thy neighbor." Basically, I just feel that my views are more aligned with the liberals. Liberal is not a curse word as they want you to think:

I'm sure you guys will get them soon enough. When the Katrina disaster hit, I got so many chain letters that sounded something like this, "You ungrateful people in New Orleans need to stop whining and realize that it's nobody's fault this happened to you. It's your fault you stayed there. Nobody owes you anything." It was something along those lines. I'm beginning to think that Karl Rove used to sit behind his desk all day and creates these chain letters. hahah. man. Some people are just hopeless.

Not that I remember. Usually the e-mails aren't so much informative as they are slanderous, or partisan. They usually seem somewhat hateful as if this is the only way to rally their base. It's sad really. Oh, and I did hit reply-all with the URL from NPR's website (shown in the first post at the bottom) where they explained that it was a total hoax and they've never interviewed this man, nor does he even exist. LOL

Speaking of Snopes, they really got me good one time. I was reading how Mr. Ed was really a pony that was just painted like a Zebra. I told a lot of people about it. Eventually Snopes ratted themselves out and said it was a hoax that they created to remind you to keep checking and re-checking your sources, no matter where you get them from.
