Robert Parry: Terrorists in Miami, Oh My!

Terrorists in Miami, Oh My!

The Bush administration finally took action against alleged terrorists living in plain sight in Miami, but they weren’t the right-wing Cuban terrorists implicated in actual acts of terror, such as blowing a civilian Cuban airliner out of the sky. They were seven young black men whose crime was more “aspirational than operational,” the FBI said.

As media fanfare over the arrests made the seven young men, many sporting dreadlocks, the new face of the terrorist enemy in America, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales conceded that the men had no weapons or explosives and represented “no immediate threat.”

But Gonzales warned that these kinds of homegrown terrorists “may prove to be as dangerous as groups like al-Qaeda.”

For longtime observers of political terrorism in South Florida, the aggressive reaction to what may have been the Miami group’s loose talk about violence, possibly spurred by an FBI informant posing as an al-Qaeda operative, stands in marked contrast to the U.S. government’s see-no-evil approach to notorious Cuban terrorists who have lived openly in Miami for decades.

1. Bush Family Ties to actual terrorists in Florida
snip>

But there’s really nothing new about these two terrorists – and other violent right-wing extremists – getting protection from the Bush family.

For three decades, both Bosch and Posada have been under the Bush family’s protective wing, starting with former President George H.W. Bush (who was CIA director when the airline bombing occurred in 1976) and extending to Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and President George W. Bush.

The evidence points to one obvious conclusion: the Bushes regard terrorism – defined as killing civilians to make a political point – as justified in cases when their interests match those of the terrorists. In other words, their moral outrage is selective, depending on the identity of the victims.

2. If thinking or talking about destroying some evil people or
buildings that represent them is a terrorist crime, I suspect most of the people in the US would be considered terrorists! ShrubCo has generated a very fertile groud for them!

I wonder if Gonzo really believes he can eliminate all the "home grown terrorists"? People like thathave existed since the beginning of time! Most as far as I know, are the white supremist hibernating in the woods of some of the reddest states in the mid west. What about the groups who believe it's a great thing to blow up abortion clinics?

It's politically corect for this admin to tell the people they're going to keep them safe, but if anyone really thinks about it, theyll realize there is NO WAY to do that!!!!

3. Gonzo merely does his dark lord's bidding.
When George needs a distraction or a boost in the polls, his flying monkeys are always ready to oblige.

4. These kinds of statements by gonzalez
who warned that these kinds of homegrown terrorists “may prove to be as dangerous as groups like al-Qaeda.”

are just the kinds of things that point to the lying bastard's A**.

no explosives, no weapons, no immediate threats but the scumbags need terrorists to kindle their war on terror, their fear planting, their distraction seeding, and they go and find themselves people who can't even afford an attorney--and even if they could, they charge them with the bush schtic label, "terrorists in our midst" and they will forever sit in the guantanamo gulag, or on a barge somewhere and they will rot there so long as their imprisonment serves to feed bush's dictatorial powers.

5. Robert Parry: Terrorists in Miami, Oh My!
Dear Friday's Child

Thanks for putting me on to Robert Parry. After reading the entire article, and learning a LOT about what went/goes on behind the scenes in the U.S. capital of Latin America, some of which I knew already, I decided I wanted to know more about this Mr. Parry. I discovered that he's more than just a byline. He's a prolific author, and literate to boot. I zeroed in on only one site (would like to have time to read all of his work, including his books), and recommend it to everyone (anyone, like me, who loves Gore):

Enjoy.

6. His web site is the first truth-telling political news site I found...
...after getting my first computer in 1998. He really is smart, dedicated, and courageous. Glad you've "found" him, too. Spread the word!

BartCop runs his articles on every new page. Says his site Consortium News is the most important site on the internet. Robert Parry exposed the Iran-Contra Deal under Reagan. The "Bush Family Evil Empire" would probably like to exterminate him.

7. Robert Parry: Terrorists in Miami, Oh My!

BTW, I haven't seen one reference in the MSM about the Iraqi PM imposing an emergency curfew there, as reported by AP yesterday morning (or Thursday evening). Have you?

Oh, of course, the 'Miami 7' are so much more important.:wtf:

8. Boy, is this true - "stands in marked contrast .....
Edited on Sat Jun-24-06 12:28 PM by higher class
.... to the U.S. government’s see-no-evil approach to notorious Cuban terrorists who have lived openly in Miami for decades."

The Cuban-American criminals in the hundreds (in parternship with the CIA in most instances) committed terrorist acts against Cuba
- including blowing an airline out of the sky - with a soccer? team on it
- motoring to Cuba and trying to blow up Castor or some coral
- shooting people dead at the pool of a hotel

The list is very long.

Yes - these are the same bombers who have enjoyed nice homes in Miami - been revered by many in Miami or around the country - and some have had streets named after them.

And they were rarely Black-Cubans.

10. It's a Republican habit--and a Bush family specialty--to coddle...
...terrorists and tyrants, the names of whom would make for another very long list.
