1. Military family member. Father, brothers, uncles, cousins.
Viet Nam: If we had "cut and run" in the late 50's, 58,000 American soldiers would not have lost their lives and 260,000 vets would not have been wounded and driven insane.

5. Iraq
This whole thing is just tragic. Not only for my comrade-in-arms, but the poor everyday Iraqi as well. No one is benefitting from this boondoggle and thing will not get better. We are fighting thousands of years of tribalism over there and a "democracy" is not possible in that part of the world.

3. A HUGE percentage of us are veterans - what cut and run - the war is
over, Little Lord Pissypants declared Mission Accomplished on an aircraft carrier how many years ago? He's the War President, the Commander in Cheif and the Decider - so now he's the Declarer. Over, kaput, finis, done.

Now, would you like to know what I think about our on-going Occupation of Iraq? We should pull our forces to the borders and let the Iraqis stand up on their own. Continued air support would probably have to happens since they have virtually none of their own.

But think about our relationship with these people - when Shrub flew in last week for his photo op campaign booster victory lap distinguished State visit with the new leaders in Iraq - he didn't even trust the Prime Minister of that country to tell him he would be visiting until 5 minutes beforehand. So, we're losing troops every day in an Occupantion of a country that doesn't want us there and that we don't trust. Pull them back, save their lives, keep them in reserve in case.

6. DU has hundreds of vets
and several of us have family members in Theatre.

B*sh is the worst pResident ever

Iraq is a civil war.
I say let's fuckin cut and run. Better now than thousands-more-dead later.

I say let N. Korea shoot off their rocket. Even if the test is a success, which I don't think is likely - big deal.

"Vice-admiral Lowell Jacoby, then head of the Defence Intelligence Agency, last year told Congress that a three-stage version of the Taepodong-2 had the "theoretical capability reach most of the continental US". But some experts doubt whether the missile has the range to hit the US and whether it can carry a significant payload."

I hate bush and my hate is rational. bush's foreign policy is to huff and puff and piss off everybody in the world. We are very soon coming to a point (maybe already) that it can honestly be said Iraq was better off under hussein. We don't have a course, so I don't know what they are blathering on about. Cut and Run is just a tacky little slogan that is easy for the lemmings to remember and spew.

This proud liberal veteran is still under oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

I apologize for any ambiguity in my answer.

10. 10 Years worth of serving
The ole blood pressure goes crazy when I hear "slogans" like cut and run and stay the course. I also can't stand it when a RWer tries to catagorize me or anyone without knowing us. To tell someone who has served in the armed forces that they are a coward is completely stupid! YES, we should get out of the region soonest possible. I know the troops there are doing the best they can to achieve nondescriptive goals, but I sure wish there was a way they could collectively refuse. I would donate to start bringing them home on private flights.

13. When I hear senators or some official in the government say...
that they have sons in Iraq, I always wonder where they are stationed and their positions. Do you think that they get special priviledges , this question is for anyone.

11. USAF, years ago. Had I been lied into a war or found
the intel had been cherry picked or just write it off as incompetence, may ass would be on the first train or boat to canada. Pick your reason, none of them justify losing lives, especially mine, for this freaking idiot in the whitehouse.

It's just not the multitude of reasons or the "why lies" we supposedly went to war but the utter chaos at which Rumsfield has created but continually assures us, is going well. The lack of equipment, outdated equipment, lack of body armor, not enough troops on the initial invasion has led to thousands of American deaths and tens of thousands of wounded soldiers all because the coke-head-drunkard in the whitehouse suffers from "little man" syndrome and has to prove to everyone he's not the loser he has been all his life. Well, George, you stupid little fuck, it's not working. You still are and will always be America's biggest loser.

Oh, one other thing loser-in-chief, there will never ever be another volunteer army because of your short sightedness. They will not enlist freely because they don't what another fuck up like you sending them to war. They will not enlist because they saw all the funding you cut from veteran's programs and health care. That's why, you stupid fuck, the Army, Marines are have trouble making their enlistment goals and that's why they have all lowered their target goals so they may claim they are "making the numbers."

That's just my 2 cents on the military. Now for the economy, well, let's just say that's headed in the same direction as Rumsfield's failed war....

14. Retired AF
Husband also. Brother, nephews, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, all vets. (Father missed the Big One, too busy making tank engines for Georgie Patton)

All war is a crime. There have been no wars that couldn't have been prevented; at a critical point there was a failure of nerve, of imagination, of courage. What makes this one so terrible is that it was started with malice of forethought, for narrow selfish reasons, all based on lies. This nation was not threaten in any way. We were arrogant flies who thought we could conquered the fly paper.

Even if every American leaves Iraq tomorrow, we will pay a terrible price for what we have done. I fear for my country.
