Why won't Daily Kos accept posts about my Quixtar operation?
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 11:17 PM by LoZoccolo
As you know, Quixtar is Amway's presence in the new world of Internet e-commerce, and it's venture into the 21st century. As a Quixtar IBO (independant business owner, which means everything I do is not Amway's fault), I want to make available to the people of America a new way of purchasing things through me instead of going to the store and getting them right away. However, Daily Kos has a repressive institutional ban on what they have termed "pyramid schemes" as they have adopted the disingenuous term perpetuated by the false coverage of the media, which has been proven false in a court of law because Amway tells people not to turn it into a pyramid scheme and are thus not guilty of how others may be abusing the new way of doing business of multi-level marketing. For this, as I take a stand, that stand is not welcomed but silenced.

I think that this is America and that I'm a patriotic liberal, so when I give people access to the American dream, this real American dream rather than the BushCo empire, I should be able to speak the truth.

I choose to drink XS energy drink rather than the Kool-Aid, which is all Daily Kos is serving.

NOTE: This post is sarcastic.

4. Neither is Wikipedia.
They keep deleting my cell phone number from the Nutrilite entry, leaving no explanation but "WP:NOT" and "NPOV" and "rvv", which could be secret code by Skull & Bones members for all I know.

Read it, but please don't vote because I wouldn't want to be packing the court here, even though the freeptards already did.

I have trouble taking Wikipedia seriously because there are articles in it about porn stars.

28. Nothing "secret" or "skull and bones" about it
Wikipedia is a GREAT site and one of the few sites where dis-information is NOT disseminated. You should read the lengthy information about what is and is not permitted in wikipedia entries. Their ruleset is brilliant and has resulted in the website's amazing success. Mocking it out of ignorance will get you nowhere.

12. Glad to see your note
that the post is sarcastic, but what is it for then? Which part is sarcastic?

Seems you must be joking about Kos not wanting posts about your Quixtar operation since the site is not for that.

As someone who has Mr Amway deVos spending millions to be her governor with all his extreme right wing religious connections and views, his Delay/Abramoff ties and so on...I'd hard;y be moved by good words about Amway or Quixtar.

As far as Daily Kos serving kool-aid there is such a good variety of drinks there that if you feel like something is kool-aid you move on. There are some great diaries there.

I'd like to think others are being sarcastic too. I don't always agree with Kos for sure but he IS on "our side" and I'm glad he started the forum. Many good people have connected there. I like him but he is far from my favorite diarist, yet it is because of him starting it that they are there.

We can disagree with people's opinions without demonizing them, especially when it is another person who would like to see the Dems take the majority. So what if it is not the same politician or in the same way we see it?

I like both sites a lot. I've seen this site picked on just once in my time there (in a comment, not a diary). I've seen Daily Kos insulted several times here. But either way I have to speak up. We are in it together.

13. Kos Is/Was More Liberal In Some Ways Than DU
What I mean about this is that Kos never "tombstoned" people because they did not discuss Democrats in a 100% positive light. While I have a deep respect for and think this is DU's right and respect their choices, for years I did not come back here because I felt that the tomnbstoning was not good for a "free" dialgue.

I was at Andy's funeral, I loved Andy to death. We had this conversation and even he agreed that DU lost something then. I told him I had gone to Kos because I felt at least Kos allowed free speech and he was sympathetic to that. But the Andy was a saint, IMO, and he really believed in our right to speak out ~ even if it was against him. I loved him for that. And because I missed you all and met so many wonderful people at his funeral, well I am back and glad I am. And maybe it was all for good because I have noticed that DU is a little more open to discussing things more openly.

This whole process of being a lifelong Democrat has been a painful one for me, and any change was not done lightly. With a heavy heart and a great deal of anger, I voted Green in '96 and almost voted that way in 2000 (and would have if it had not been so close). I was so Democrat my mama taught me never to EVER trust a Republican, so to reconsider my lifelong dedication to the party was not easy. I am back as a Democrat, but I am determined to work on changing it to a more progressive party. Therfore I participate locally and communicate with my Democratic reps frankly and with a lot of energy. I do believe that since the Democrats are the next-most powerful party, it should be supported, but it is my patriotic duty that it be openly criticized when I disagree. However as a great man I once knew Bernie Whitebear taught me, one should not have only criticism, one should also have a suggestion. I would suggest that we have open and honest debate while respecting everyone's view and I believe DU tries to promote this.

This was hard for me to write. I cannot believe Andy has already been gone this long already. But as I sit here and think about him, and what Ben said, I am glad Ben is here as well because he is another good Dem and shall I say it ~ he is my hero whom I am willing to listen to. I just feel sad that people like that, that...person...who tried to hurt Andy would see that Andy was the real deal and he loved his country enough to put his life on the line. Yet in a twisted way I am glad this...person whomever he was... spoke his piece. Because his lack of humanity epitomized for me that what my mother taught me is true, even if some of them are in my own family (which there are thankfully few): Never EVER trust a Republican, especially a wingnut. And for God's sake, DON'T EVER vote for one, especially if your vote only helps them get into office!

My 2 cents

Cat In Seattle <---who hopes I do not get tombstoned, but I had to say it and feel better for it

o go).

The meeting was used more to spout RW talking points. It was creepy. Of course this could just be a symptom of where I lived at the time, but it was creepy. I don't understand why anyone would spend $3 a can on XS (8 oz) when a 12 pack of 12 oz sodas are $3 (the same as spending 54 dollars per regular 12 pack!). I understand that you are committed to it, as my friends are, but I think Quixtar drains low income people of all their money. You simply cannot save money even if you "get it back."

on edit:
oh... your being sarcastic aren't you... well it makes more sense now... :P

19. Maybe he doesn't like you sucking up his bandwidth to run
your business?

Let's get real here, no matter how much you coach your pitch as about 'freedom and democracy', you're hustling a business and looking to shove product out the door.

That would be like someone having a meetup at their house and you brought your promotinal materials and started your pitch when people were there to discuss politics.

DU, Kos, and others are private enterprises are not obligated to give you free advertising. Why don't you pony up and pay the man for his time and effort for building the infrastructure that allows you to pursue your commercial ends? You're not giving away your products for free, why should he?

29. Amway.. Yuck
Fellow was doing a presentation in the Sheraton Burlington Conference Center. Jim, the Sheraton Banquet Manager called me, there was a problem with some of the AV stuff. I rush down there, replace an equalizer and get guy's presentation up and running. The guy was so grateful he invited me to lunch the next day at a nice place. I meet hem the next day at the restaurant, we order drinks. He asks me if I ever thought of working for myself.

That's when the alarm bells started ringing. "Fucking Amway" I said to myself. Sure enough, I get woken out of a sound sleep at 4:30AM so I could drive 60 miles to Burlington to hook this guy up, and all he sees is an opportunity to sell me an Amway franchise. Lovely.
