How will you address the Troll Army?

now that the presense of such armny has been confirmed?

Personally, I feel angry about this situation. I have long recognized the irritant of individual trolls, but as this organized effort by republican operatives comes to light, I feel angry. Maybe its the long slimy arm of Karl and his minions ... but why should this surprise anyone. The idea that these douchebags wouldn't disrupt someone else's debate is just wishful thinking.

I'm curious how you might change your browsing habits.

I've been telling people for years that the paid GOP trolls were here. And I've been exposing them as I can confirm them.

If you think you have a troll, locate and alert on every single one of their trollish posts!

Perhaps a good way to play it is to find them...it shouldn't be impossible to set up a crew of moderators who can pick them out, like corn from cow turds. Then via PM, we can sic a few of our best on them to beat the living shit out of them, cyber-style, of course, before they get the deep-six.

11. As I said last night

The funniest thing is

people think the dissenters are the paid trolls. That's not how it usually works, less bang for the buck. Paid trolls are usually the biggest cheer leaders on most issues while biding their time to post the less conventional wisdom.

They are usually the ones who trumpet loyalty the most and bark the loudest when someone dares post a contrary point of view.

It is only after the 'street cred', or in this case the 'thread cred' is established that the real trolling for dollars can begin.

The unpaid trolls are the ones that blurt out the nazi propaganda without thinking. They are hardly organized and I'm sure DU has been dealing with them since the doors here opened.

It is important to realize that paid trolls are very rarely contrarians.

1. Click the alert link on someone if you think they are a troll. Explain to the moderators why you believe someone is a troll.

2. Click the "ignore" link on that person, so you won't be bothered with their trolling.

3. Accept that many people on DU have different opinions, and it does not make them trolls.
