1. Because Regenry Press, her publsiher has always
purchased bulk sales of it's own books to get them on the bestsellers lists. The NYT at least puts an asterisk on publishers that do this now.

8. Actually, the publisher is listed as "Crown Forum."
Are they are subsidiary of Regenry? I haven't done any research on the subject.

10. Crown Forum is a subsidiary of Random House
It seems to be where books Regnery won't touch go.

Godless
Although this sounds like the title of Ann Coulter's autobiography, it's nothing more than a new batch of rehashed lies about the Left.

Disrobed: The New Battle Plan to Break the Left's Stranglehold on the Courts
The last Democrat to seat a substantial number of federal judges was Jimmy Carter, who ain't exactly a leftist. The courts are packed with Reagan, Bush and Bush appointees...but the Left has a stranglehold on the courts? Interesting.

Can She Be Stopped?
This is essentially right-wing whacking material. Author John Podhoretz has filled 200 pages with this scenario of how to stop Hillary Clinton from becoming president of the United States, using such tactics as making her stand up against popular Republican programs.

Getting America Right
This tome by the chairman of the Heritage Foundation and the founder of Townhall.com explains a six-point plan to reinstill conservative values on the American people. What they're not telling you is that there really needs to be a seven-point plan, the first point of which shall be "force every Republican in America to resign his membership in the John Dillinger Died For You Society."

Rebel-in-Chief
This you must read for yourself: With Rebel-in-Chief, veteran political reporter Fred Barnes provides the defining book on George W. Bush’s presidency, giving an insider’s view of how Bush’s unique presidential style and bold reforms are dramatically remaking the country—and, indeed, the world. In the process, Barnes shows, the president is shaking up Washington and reshaping the conservative movement.

Greatness
This book compares, in a favorable light, Ronald Reagan and Winston Churchill.

There's a name for these books: INSULATION.

15. True in many ways...
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 08:23 AM by FormerRushFan
Rebel-in-Chief - I remember that one...

The books no one actually buys - these books give the author license to appear on countless interview shows to repeat their talking points over and over, and bring forward the subjects the books raise to churn through our media stream (talk radio and panel shows) like bears shitting in our drinking water.

This ongoing sludge-fest of content, even if no one actually buys the books, produces an ongoing stream of right wing content, setting the terms of the discussion and reintroducing the talking points over and over.

That's an important point, because we have to learn that it's not the release of ONE movie, ONE book, ONE website, ONE essay, ONE story in the news, etc - in order to get the message across we have to understand what THEY have learned - that repetition is the key to getting the message (in this case the TRUTH) to sink in...

But "your tax dollars" - the remark is true in more ways than one.

What isn't being directly funded through government slush funds which use "third world accounting practices", is being paid for by corporations lowering their taxes by writing this off their taxable income, and "foundations" like Heritage, Cato, et al whose contributors lower their taxes through donating to those 'educational' institutions.

7. Yes, no, maybe?
I checked; you're right, it's not on the 6/16/06 list. But that turns out to be an irrelevancy.

Article making the claim is here:
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/6/14/213526.shtml

The claim is that on the list due out 6/25/06 it will be #1. Might have been an accurate claim, might have been a false claim, might be a claim that's been rendered true or false after the claim was made.

Wait and watch.

16. It takes about 2 weeks for a book to register on the NYT list.
So she will probably on it next week. And it will probably come in at #1, unfortunately, judging by the USA Today list.

17. Book club direct sales don't count in the bestseller lists
So that doesn't account for her hitting the Times list. I'm afraid the sales she's getting are, indeed, real sales. That said, it could still mean that fundies are driving out to their local bookstores and buying in bulk.
