What's with this Ed Schultz guy?
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 02:31 PM by Marr
I've been listening to Air America here in Los Angeles for awhile, but I've come to the point where I just shut it off when this Ed Schultz guy comes on. Lately he does nothing but rag on blogs, bloggers, and the "far left". Sounds like frigging Rush Limbaugh. Yesterday, I decided to give him another shot, thinking maybe he'd had a bad day or something but, nope- first thing I hear from him is something like, "at least right wingers will listen to reason. Lefties just block you out" or something to that effect.

I honestly don't see why the powers that be ever tried to block this guy from Armed Forces Radio. He seems about as "left wing" as Alan Colmes.

2. I stopped listening
For the same reasons. I disagree with too many of his points of view.

He comes on in a half hour here, and I will tune in today to hear what Jason Leopold has to say.

I don't listen to him, but I trust Mike and Randi.

8. He seems like it to me, too. There was this guy out here-
a somewhat libertarian local talk show host in the San Bernardino/Riverside area. Not a radical or anything, but certainly not a Republican. He was always ragging on them. Anyway, he went over to a right wing Clear Channel station in Los Angeles, and immediately- I mean from the moment he came on the air- he was the World's Greatest Republican©. And his schtick was so transparently hollow- he was just collecting a check.

Anyway, Schultz reminds me of that guy. Never really all that informed, because he doesn't really give a crap.

6. I think you're being to rough on Ed. I listen to him almost every day.
Sometimes he gets a bit weird, but most of the time he's a realist. At least that's the way I hear him.

He's sure no Mike Malloy. but he doesn't claim to be.

Leopould is to be on his show today at 3:30 EST. Let's see how he handles his interveiw.

7. I've given him many chances...but I don't listen anymore either.
Every time I listen to Ed Schultz, I get the strange feeling that he's trying to gain a following in order to then convince them to move to the right.

9. I have had my doubts about "big Eddie" for a long time
he SOUNDS like Rush Limbaugh with his tone ya know?I have had this feeling that he is just a guy who was looking for a niche-somewhere to fit in and work so he "chose" to be a liberal radio guy, since there were so many RWers already.Do I really think he BELIEVES what he says? No.Hey as far as the blog-o-sphere goes-this growing movement might just put guys like him out of business someday.Randi?I think she could very easily make the transition if she had to AND be one of the best at it-with her work ethic.

10. Don't compare Ed to Druggie Limbaugh
Ed is a much better host than that. He is like most of us liberal types, in that he has some issues he's conservative on but more that he is liberal towards. In today's world, he's seen as a moderate liberal since he favors single-payer healthcare, is HIGhly PRO-UNION, and is anti-Bush in every concievable way. He's hard on the incompetence of Repubs and spinelessness of Dems. I like him a lot, but I don't agree with him all the time. He doesn't support Impeachment talk, but I do. I wish he'd lay off the bloggers, but give him a week, and they won't be mentioned for awhile.

I guess my pont in all this is that Liberals don't have to agree on everything. We just don't. That's why we a living breathing THINKING PEOPLE as opposed to the Bush-bots and Christian Fundies. We can survive and hash out our differences, and that just makes us better!
Would Limbaugh agree with us on ANYTHING?? Of course not....Ed is much better than that!

14. I generally turn him off, but ...
he has a 3-hour stint, so I listen sometimes. And sometimes he's not as bad as usual.

What pissed me is that he was put on in the afternoon, bumping Randy Rhodes to a later time spot.

dismisses 'the far left' everyday, everyway.

doing AAR (he's on OUR AAR affiliate) a disservice.

told him he would find a larger audience on our side of the argument. I do not like the way he bumped Randi off our AAR afternoon spot. He always makes the point that he is not AAR. Then he brags that AAR is rating better than RW cable TV. It is very republican of him. Now he is a R hack talking to us about how wonderful it is to be in the center.
