God gave...that precious oil to us.

After a funeral recently one of my cousins was talking politics at the church dinner. She was postulating that God had given the middle east to America just as He gave us this continent. She said that the people who lived here before us never did anything with it, and that we liberated them from savagery and brought them to the light of the Lord, just as we are doing in Iraq.

My other relatives were becoming uncomfortable and embarrassed but I just started laughing out loud. Not fake laughter either, but belly laughs like when a clown squirts someone with his big flower.

It shut her down, and political discussion ceased. Of course she didn't speak to me again, and I hope it's a long trend.

But amazing as her statement is, it's how a large majority of Americans feel although few say it aloud.

LAUGH at em. Right out of the gate. Don't engage in discourse (it's pointless, because they buh-LEEEVE); don't try to change their minds (because, to them, you're trying to change their "faith").

Just laugh. Hard. Point your finger and laugh. Why?

Because they hate it. It shuts them down, every single time.
