More info on stolen Veteran's info.
I just talked with Rep Ben Chandler's staff and they told me that if you were discharge in 1975 and beyond, you are probably on the disk. If you have filed a VA claim (insurance, health, education), you are probably on the disk.

They were not sure about your status if you applied for a VA loan. She did give me the FTC number. 1 800 333 4636. I called and they were of little help.

Lobby your congressman to make all defensive measures (relating to credit) are free. It was the government's fault, not ours. They should pay, not the victims.

1. I'm fortunate to have a
Veteran as a U. S. Representative and a democrat to boot (Gene Taylor, Mississippi Fourth.) The incident has me paranoid. I'm checking all my financial accounts on the computer on a daily basis.

2. I got a two page letter about it.
Basically, they said there's no "evidence" the info has been used yet, that you should check your bank statements and get credit reports...blah, blah, blah. They may has well have saved the paper and sent us a postcard saying, "Hey, you, you're screwed!"

4. I have received no letter. It could be because I fall outside the
dates and didn't file a claim. They didn't start digitizing until 1975.

3. I expect the stolen data will end up
causing problems with voter identification.
If two people have the same voter ID, neither can vote. It doesn't take much imagination how most vets will vote, if they get the chance to vote.

This is even better than using the machines to swap dem votes for repub votes - you just mix up the ID of two dems, and you get two for the price of one.
