Did Democrats walk out on Delay speech the other day??
I just heard on the public radio station in Albany, NY, that 200 Democrats stood up, turned their backs and walked out on Tom Delay's fiery, defiant speech as he left Congress. Dr. Alan Chartok, who runs the station, just said this, but I googled and cannot come up with anything??

Anyone know how to find out about this???

7. Thanks - I think it is great that they walked out
They never should have been there to listen to him anyway.

2. DeLay hits out in farewell speech
Senior Republican Tom DeLay has bowed out of the House of Representatives with a defiant speech defending conservatism and partisan politics.

"You show me a nation without partisanship, and I'll show you a tyranny," Mr DeLay, the former House Majority leader, said.

He noted that it was customary for lawmakers to "reminisce about the 'good old days' of political harmony and across- the-aisle-camaraderie" in their farewell speeches.

Most of his fellow House Republicans were present, giving him several ovations, while many of the Democrats in attendance walked out when he attacked liberal ideology.

3. Yes, many Dems did get up and leave - noisily.
He pulled a fast one on them, thinking he would force them to listen to his bullshit.

The man is a crook. He needs to be behind bars. No one with any ethics or morals in Washington should even give him the time of day.

4. Several did.
They should have left with raised middle fingers. Fuck that one-trick pony. All he can do is attack Dems. That's all he has.

6. Several not only stayed, they crossed the aisle & bade him farewell!
I hope they washed their hands afterward. Me, I am not nearly so forgiving. I cannot get it into my soul to forgive for all those innocents cheated out of educations, medicines, decent lives, housing, etc, all because of Delay. I will not miss him. And the speech was one of the purest pieces of demagoguery I have heard in some time.
