technology that allows nations to obliterate city blocks with weapons fired from hundreds of miles away and controlled on a video game console can NEVER be just . . . nor can wars that involve depleted uranium weapons, cluster bombs, nuclear bunker busters -- or whatever the next great leap in the technology of killing and destroying will be . . .

"just war" is an oxymoron . . . just as humankind got together and banned slavery, so we can get together to ban war . . . and we must . . .

yeah, slavery still exists . . . and banning war won't end it -- at least not right away . . . but just expressing the intention to end war will give humankind a worthy goal to work toward, and one that most everyone can agree to . . .

the first and necessary step to ending war is declaring that we WANT to end war . . . and war will never end unless and until we, as humans, collectively express our intention to end it . . .

with the weaponry available today, it's the only course of action that makes any sense whatsoever . . .

I feel the same way, but you forget what happens to start it in the first place.

1. Nutty people rise to the top
2. They lie to their nations
3. They get the nations so worked up, people feel hatred for the target of the top nut
4. People go to war and die
5. Family members seeking revenge join war to kill the enemy
6. All of the nutty people who wanted war are finally killed off
7. Peace is agreed upon
8. People agree to let there be war nevermore
9. New generation is born
10. Older generation gets out of politics
11. Nutty people rise to the top...

So long as people are stupid enough to believe the nutty people at the top, war will exist. War is pointless. There have been wars that have accomplished much, but that accomplishment would have been unnecessary if those nutty people hadn't been at the top and causing problems in the first place.
