High Schoolers' Porn Assignment Canceled After Parents
High Schoolers' Porn Assignment Canceled After Parents

POSTED: 4:00 pm EST January 13, 2006

BROOKLYN, Ohio -- A high school research assignment on Internet pornography was canceled after parents in this Cleveland suburb complained.

Superintendent Jeff Lampert said that although the teacher's apparent goal -- to discuss the harmful effects of pornography -- was well-intentioned, he agreed with parents that the assignment was inappropriate for 14- and 15-year-old freshmen at Brooklyn High.

The assignment asked students to research pornography on the Internet and list eight facts about pornography.

Students also were asked to write their personal views of pornography and any experience they had with it.

1. Is there an award for "Career Darwinism"?
I understand the IDEA, but who in their right mind would tell 14-year-olds to research porn on the internet?

3. porn is free and available to ANYONE on the internet, those kids
probably already have been there done that.

what I most object to is saying pictures of consenting adults having sex
is "porn", as in, something objectionable.

I can watch PBS everynight and see all kinds of other creatures having sex, sheesh, why
not people?

10. Not quite the topic.
They are minors, the adult is seeking to require them to watch porn.
It's called: Pervert Gets Caught.

4. I,m sure that every 14yr old boy in the class;
Knew exactly how to find a porn site....A serious discussion about internet porn could only do good.

5. List the facts about porn? Harm? Get real.
Sounds like more right wing, fundy, BS to me. The teacher must have read about how Linda Lovelace has became a born again addict and how she was forced to do porn, after she spent every dime she had made doing porn.

8. I wonder who could teach whom the most on this particular subject?
I doubt there's anyone more familiar with internet porn than high school freshmen.
