Iraq troops to get ethics training
Iraq troops to get ethics training
By Philippe Naughton and agencies

The US general in charge of coalition forces in Iraq has ordered his commanders to conduct "values" training to reinforce moral and ethical standards of soldiers in the battlefield.

The order came as The Washington Post reported that a US military inquiry into the alleged cover-up of the killing of 24 civilians in the town of al-Haditha would conclude that some Marines officers gave false reports of what happened to their superiors - who then failed to check the information...

Details of an initial military investigation, undertaken in March and leaked to The New York Times, showed flaws in the Marine unit’s original claims that the Iraqi civilians killed in al-Haditha were the victims of a roadside bomb.

Citing death certificates, the report showed that all 24 victims, including seven women and three children, had been shot, most in the head and chest. The investigation also found that $38,000 (£20,000) had been paid by the Marines to families of 15 victims.

1. Right how about we start with ETHICS TRAINING for
THE BUSH Badministration and after that go into the congress. Maybe after we clean up that mess the rest of the world would take us seriously, and try to help us.

5. Remember they already had "ethics" training last year.
Bush Orders Staff to Attend Ethics Briefings
White House Counsel to Give 'Refresher' Course

By Jim VandeHei
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, November 5, 2005; Page A02

President Bush has ordered White House staff to attend mandatory briefings beginning next week on ethical behavior and the handling of classified material after the indictment last week of a senior administration official in the CIA leak probe.

According to a memo sent to aides yesterday, Bush expects all White House staff to adhere to the "spirit as well as the letter" of all ethics laws and rules. As a result, "the White House counsel's office will conduct a series of presentations next week that will provide refresher lectures on general ethics rules, including the rules of governing the protection of classified information," according to the memo, a copy of which was provided to The Washington Post by a senior White House aide.

The mandatory ethics primer is the first step Bush plans to take in coming weeks in response to the CIA leak probe that led to the indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, and which still threatens Karl Rove, the deputy White House chief of staff. Libby was indicted last week in connection with the two-year investigation. He resigned when the indictment was announced and on Thursday pleaded not guilty to charges of lying to federal investigators and a grand jury about his conversations with reporters.

2. I'm sure that will take care of the problem...
just a little misunderstanding, that's all.

3. You can't train someone to be a soldier, dehumanize the enemy,
encourage "softening up" of prisoners, and then expect "ethics training" to solve anything. This is a PR move. That's all these bastards know.
