Canadians healthier than Americans: study

You can add Canadians to the list of foreigners who are healthier than Americans. Americans are 42 percent more likely than Canadians to have diabetes, 32 percent more likely to have high blood pressure, and 12 percent more likely to have arthritis, Harvard Medical School researchers found. That is according to a survey in which American and Canadian adults were asked over the telephone about their health.

The study comes less than a month after other researchers reported that middle-aged, white Americans are much sicker than their counterparts in England.

"We're really falling behind other nations," said Dr. Steffie Woolhandler, a co-author of the Canadian study, reports Washingtonpost.

1. Americans pay for first-class, best-in-the-world, quality medical care.
We get a leaky hot-water bottle & some expired aspirin.

2. What Did You Expect??
We have here in america, more citizens who are UNINSURED than Canada has CITIZENS, period!!

Last I heard, and please anyone correct me if I am mistaken, but Canada's population was roughly 30 million. We have over 46 million uninsured Americans.

Of course Canadians are healthier. THEY actually get cared for when they are sick! Uninsured Americans, like me...we are asked to curl up and die. Or generate humongous medical bills we can never afford, and thus our lives are forever ruined.

So, as a result, most Americans in my situation will be sick, and not seek any medical help - when the problem is small and still treatable. They will, because of economics...suffer with sickness, until it becomes so large that it can no longer be treated, and therefore it kills.

Ah, compassionate fucking conservatism...gotta love it! :sarcasm:

5. It's more likely they get cared for *BEFORE* they get sick.

It's more likely they're healthier because they get cared
for *BEFORE* they get truly, badly sick.

But heart surgeons make no money from their potential customers
going on low fat diets, etc., so we Americans...
