He looks to me like any moment his tongue is going to shoot out of his mouth to taste the ear, or slurp the face of the speaker. This is significant, too, as you pointed out. The tabloids now going after bush? He's no longer a taboo? "Fair game" - shall we say? Hey, FINE BY ME! I hope there are lots of stories coming up about their alleged perfect marriage being as big a sham as is everything else about them.

I suspect that some day, in the continuing pile-on of bush that we'll likely see after he's "safely" out of office and the chickenshits around him feel "safe" about coming out and telling on him, our suspicions about L'Affaire contradicta will be confirmed.

This is BEAUTIFUL! The tabloids reach a LOT of the "great unwashed" who put as much credence in them as they do o'leilly and limbaugh and friends. The tabloids reach a HELLUVA LOT of people, everywhere. They're almost everyone's "dirty little secret" (SHHH! YES, I read the Enquirer! Don't tell anybody PLEEEEEZE!!!) AND more besides.

I've gotta tell ya - when I worked at the Associated Press and scandals like Michael Jackson's and others were the big stories, our news management would scoop up the comp'ed issues that came in every week and pour over every page. And so would some of the writers - especially those who did a lot of scandal and people and Hollywood-type stuff. This is because, by-and-large, the tabloid reports turned out to be TRUE. CONSISTENTLY. We'd read the Enquirer especially, and then try to source out our own stories, having been clued in by the tabloid stuff. And that stuff would wind up getting confirmed over and over and over. I saw it day after day after day after day. People in our bureau knew to take a lot of that tabloid stuff seriously, because a helluva lot of it was TRUE. And I suspect one of the reasons is that outfits like the Enquirer and the Globe pay for stories. They have eager tipsters all over the place: hotel concierges and bell hops, valet parking people, maitre d' and waiter/waitress people, bartenders, caterers, stylists and their assistants (most of these, aside from the stylists and other insiders, are poorly paid and are ALWAYS looking for ways to supplement their income. I had a fellow reporter friend recommend this to me on a couple of occasions when money was tight - she said you can ALWAYS pick up some reliable extra income feeding the Enquirer, and she herself did so), hairdressers, underlings at agencies and personal management companies, studio underlings and on-set people like the grips and script people and the craft services people and gofers, nannies and nanny-providers, celebrity dog walkers, trainers, and pet maintenance people, house-sitters, gardeners, repair people, personal assistants AND THEIR FRIENDS (who feel no obligation to comply with loyalty oaths or personal allegiances, and who appreciate the extra money), hospital people, ambulance driver people, limo drivers, etc. And if they have to sign confidentiality agreements, it doesn't matter. For the right amount of money, they'll talk. OR they'll have talked to their spouses/partners/friends and their friends haven't signed any such agreements. ALL THAT. That's the bread-and-butter for the Enquirer and Globe and others. The AP never paid for news, so the juicy stuff we often didn't get first. The tabloids did. We'd just follow up whatever sources we had and attempt to flesh out our own stories with our own details and confirmations. In fact, there were some reporters who'd call their friends at the tabloids to confirm things, too.
