Conyers:Its the Voting Stupid

Amidst the daily drone of scandals steadily engulfing the Bush Administration, we cannot ever lose sight of the fact that at the end of the day, its the voting -- and the voting "irregularties" -- that counts. We learned that in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. That is why it is so important that the courts strike down the voter ID requirement passed in Georgia and elsewhere that would blatantly discriminate against minorities, seniors and poor voters.

And we can't forget what happened in 2002. With control of the Senate at stake, a GOP operative went about to jam Democratic phones lines, stifling the get out the vote effort, and potentially tipping the balance in a close election in a critical state to the GOP. Now we know that the same GOP operative was calling the White House on repeated and numerous occasions on election day. That is why on Friday, I asked DOJ to appoint a special counsel to deal with this matter, which presents a conflict of interest. Its clearly called for, but the Justice Department has not appointed a single "official" special counsel during their entire Administraton (Fitzgerald is not a full-fledged special counsel). No response yet, but it is important that we do not let the principal of accountability and respect for the law wither.

He knows first hand what Bu$hCo is prepared and preparing to do to hang on to the Congress but the DC Demos in large part don't get it and don't want to get it for some reason? Maybe,the NSA has all their numbers and knows where all their skeletons are jangling about? The air stinks of BLACKMAIL and suppression but the media does nothing to investigate. It truly is one of the darkest moments in American history. We have a President at 29% and pulling out the stops to grab even more power. We cannot survive the next 3 yrs. with this group in power.
