Why do Republicans have the best IT departments and hackers?
Remember a few years ago when files from the Democratic Party were stolen from an unsecured network? Now America Blog is under attack from some Freeper.

3. Any script kiddie can tie up a website -- little skill needed for that
And as you describe, the Congressional files were stolen from an unsecured network. That means the door was open. No skill needed there, either.

15. That goes to show the ineptitude of Democratic sys admins. Also,
Republicans are more used to HAVING to hide things.

5. No way! All the hackers I know (and I know some good ones) are completely
apolitical. Shunning the system and all that.

7. Their Voting Machinez Crash All The Time
If Diebold had good programmers, we would be totally screwed.

It is only because they are so inept that their machines crash so often
that we have been able to stall their adoption in some places.

10. They don't.
There is a huge difference between "able" to do wrong, and "willing" to do wrong.

I think there are, if anything, more skilled IT folk on the liberal side than the conservative side. Why? Conservatives tend to go with the current, big thing. Big Blue IBM. Microsoft and Windows. Liberals tend to go for the less supported off-shoots. Unix and Linux, for example. These offshoots tend to be more difficult to use, requiring more indepth knowledge from their users, which is how you create skillful, creative hackery.

Microsoft and Windows, on the other hand, promote the "do it our way" mentality. Rut thinking. Hacks conducted from that mindset tend to either be done using other peoples creations, or very clumsy and amatuerish.

Case in Point: Those who have examined the code used in Diebolds voting systems have said that, beyond being built to be vulnerable, the quality of the coding is just piss poor. Many have said that, had they seen such crap in a code review, they wouldn't have accepted it, even if it HAD worked as it should.

The reason you hear about conservative hackers misdeeds is because 1) they are more willing to cheat in order to get ahead, and 2) they are clumsier and thus more easily caught.
