Our Gunships Heading for the Gulf: toward Iran

This makes me absolutely sick. Where the hell is Congress?

We are setting up for airstrikes against Iran as early as June.

Something is wrong with the link. It's over on Raw Story. I'll see if I can fix it.

2. Bush has to start a war now
before he's thrown out of office.

It's his last move.

9. A War would get him thrown out of office.
I don't think people have any more patience with war left.

And I don't think Congress will, either. We don't have any money for another war, or any army.

When I saw that his pop. had dropped to 29% the first thing I wondered about was his starting another war. It worked so well for him the first time.

11. You handle it just like he does his judges - wait until a recess
and then slip them in.

So wait until Memorial Day (how fitting) and just slip in a war.

This is so insane that I can't even believe it is happening.

23. Lawmakers get out of the House
WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives is on track this year to be in session for fewer days than the Congress Harry Truman labeled as “do-nothing” during his 1948 re-election campaign.

Members of Congress are taking an entire week off for St. Patrick's Day. It's the latest scheduling innovation to give members more time to meet with constituents.

comment on this?

I have no doubt that US warships are already there, and wonder if there is any independent source to judge if this is a previously anticipated rotation.

14. I'd be interested to find out if we are sending MORE ships now, or
if we are just replacing the number that are always in the Gulf. My son was in the Navy for 16 years and stationed on the Nimitz. Every tour he spent at sea was in the Persian Gulf! The article specified gun ships. Gunships are always part of the Carrier Group.

I know Shrub has stirred up a lot of concern because of his threats toward Iran, but I don't want to fall for all the propaganda put out by this Admin. on face value.

I should be talking to my son on Sunday, and I will ask him. Although he is no longer active duty Navy, he is still working for a naval contractor overseas.

10. Actual story title is:
"US military, intelligence officials raise concern about possible preparations for Iran strike"

though it will need editing to fit, I think.

I see nothing but a bunch of conjecture by people who have no knowledge. In other words, typical Raw Story.

The phrase "RAW STORY has learned" actually means:

1) Raw Story saw it on TV...
2) Raw Story downloaded a press-release...
3) Raw Story read in an AP story...

18. CONGRESS IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT
They might as well just stay home.

With the Attorney General and the Supreme Court, Bush has made himself invincible. It will take extreme measures to end the Bush Regime. It will take hundreds of thousands of people in the streets, for months.

25. Two notes from the Persion Gulf....
Or at least from Doha, Qatar:

Last week my workplace wanted it's employes to update their records with US emails and contact numbers in the "unlikely event of an evacuation" from Doha.

This week, (on the 9th), the US Embassy here in Doha conducted an "evacuation drill", running volunteer US citizens though the evacuation proceedures. (I was scheduled to take part, but my supervisor forbade me from volunteering.). The embassy was quick to say that this was "routine" and that the threat level in Doha has not changed in the slightest.

Right now it's a little over three months before my contract ends and I can come back to the states. That being said, I'm starting to ship my belongings back now, and have a jumpbag packed in the event we do have to evacuate.

Not a happy camper.....
