Jon Stewart and a new show

I have been disappointed with the daily show for a couple of weeks now and I'd like some other opinions however I love Jon's interview techniques I think he does a great job I always walk away thinking I'm more informed I think it would be great if he got an interview show maybe on MS NBC I think I would look forward to watching that all day plus he would blow Matthews out of the water.

MSNBC doesn't deserve Stewart. He's absolutely great where he is, IMO.

I guess I see things a little differently I guess my sense of humor is not the same I don't enjoy a lot of his skits and Colbert is great with interviews I also
think Jon is too. I'd just like to see more of it.

3. wow. not my take at all

i love tds, but i think his interviewing skills are weak.

i do credit him that at least he makes it seem like he (or some staffer) read the book that's being touted. he comes off as knowledgeable about the topic.

but colbert is much better at interviewing.

20. I don't compare one to the other. They do very different schticks, and I

love them both.

As to Stewart's interviews, I often think, out loud, that I'll bet - - insert whatever serious author is present - - is thinking, "This comedien asks better questions than the real guys."

I think Stewart often asks very incisive questions and cuts to the meat of the issue.

I mean, how boring was it when he played the tape showing that he used the same words to introduce Porter Goss that he used to introduce Gen Hayden? And that bit on Rumsfeld. Yes, such a disappointment.

I can think of only a rare handful of shows in the last couple of years that didn't meet that mark. No idea why you're disappointed in TDS lately, but to each their own.

He's such a great interviewer!

with his show tonight, because he didn't talk about the current scandal, but the past few nights have rocked!
I love Jon when he takes on the current issues, and he missed the spying scandal tonight.

19. I can see where you're coming from.

He actually does do a very good interview; much better than we usually see on the regular, "real" news shows. I think we all wish that other people on TV would do at least as well as he does.
I think it would be a mistake for him to leave the cover of "not a real news show", because it allows him to speak truth that is at odds with 'conventional wisdom', or what we have come to know as truthiness.

Don't think that your perspective isn't a legitimate issue, because it certainly is!

13. LOL. After Maher went on the networks, and network bigwigs caved and

put pressure on him to have an equal number of conservatives as dems on his show (though the conservatives didn't add to the discussion very much and dragged down the tempo of the show) and then there cancelled him when he crossed a line into dark humour after 9/11 - Stewart made a point of not following that route. Better to be a big fish in a small pond (Comedy Central) that go to a network and have your wings clipped constantly by the parent corporation. Of course it means he makes less money than he could. But live and learn. I'm sure he is making money. And his show and the concept of it is safe.

TDS is perfect the way it is. Perfect and lovely and informative and untoucheable by the GOP noise machine.

Though the pressure the GOP brings to bear on network T.V. is artificial and wedge issue induced.. and perhaps weakening. It is also a violation of market principles. Someone with talent should be able to take his show to the highest bidder (who would be one of the big networks). But not in this world. With attack dogs and patsies of the GOP. I wonder when the share-holders will figure that one out?

15. I love Jon Stewart.

He is top shelf. I was just talking to a friend about how Colbert's brilliant show is a different style and it provides a solid hour of can't miss tee-vee. I have nothing but respect for both of them.

thing for Hayden as he said for Goss a year ago...

It's been the best I've seen it.
