Minorities becoming closer to the majority (CNN)

(CNN) -- More than 30 percent of the increase in the U.S. population last year was Hispanics born as American citizens, according to the Census Bureau, just one indicator that the influence of traditional minorities will continue to grow.

Bureau statistics released Tuesday show the U.S. population grew by 2.8 million between July 1, 2004, and July 1, 2005. Hispanics accounted for 1.3 million of that increase, with 800,000 attributable to natural causes -- births minus deaths -- rather than immigration.

Coupled with the high birth rate for Hispanics -- the Population Resource Center cites statistics showing the average Hispanic woman will have three children in her lifetime; it's 1.8 for non-Hispanic whites -- the number means Hispanics will make up an increasing share of the citizenry.

Census statistics also show:

45 percent of children under age 5 are from a racial or ethnic minority.

5. My southern Grandmother was convinced (in a good way) that that would

happen. She just accepted it. Her son married a Catholic, her daughter married a Persian Muslim, she saw no reason why her grandkids wouldn't be even more exogamous.

Your average Scottish/Nordic/WASP north American breed is pretty unattractive to be blunt. Big chinned gals and guys might get attention in farthest reaches of Norway, but damn!
