Students Force Homeless Man To Stand Naked In School
Students Force Homeless Man To Stand Naked In School
5 Students Suspended Over Prank

POSTED: 9:47 am EDT May 10, 2006
UPDATED: 10:04 am EDT May 10, 2006

A group of five Huntsville, Ala., students were suspended for allegedly forcing a homeless man to disrobe and walk naked through school hallways as part of a prank, according to a report.

IMAGES: More strange stories, images

Four Huntsville High School seniors and one junior student reportedly forced Jim Shields, 53, to stand naked in the school. The report said Shields remained in the hallway naked.

Shield said the teens pulled his pants off.

What the hell is wrong with people? I do hope - and I am sure I am right - that there are many more teens out there helping the homeless and being kind to them (but they won't get any press). These teens in this story need to do some community service and not just get 5 days suspension.

Of course, the attitude those teens exhibited comes straight from the top.

11. It's probaby a good hunch.
It's obvious that their parents never taught them an empathy or compassion. Probably neo-cons.

3. Okay, this is one case where I do believe that the punishment
should be 'an eye for an eye' type of thing. Don't ground them, don't suspend them, don't fail them UNLESS they refuse to do the same thing that they forced this guy to do.

He may be a Veteran
And if he is, the only reasonable course of action would be for each of the students to enlist.

5. When did forcing someone to take off their clothes become a "prank"?
Before Abu Ghraib, or because of Abu Ghraib?

6. this is NOT a prank-this is assault and should be treated accordingly.

7. If done to a POW, it's a war crime.
I'd call it kidnapping and sexual assault. These "kids" deserve hard time.

19. The administration was busy hatching plans to sneak the teaching of
creationism and abstinence into the classroom, of course. They have their priorities straight, you see.

9. Suspended? Banned from participating in graduation?
Hell, how about a real punishment, arrest and trial for assault! Anything else is simply a mockery of justice. Frankly, if I were the homeless man, I'd be suing their goddamn asses off, and not be homeless anymore.

23. Not just assault but sexual assault and they must file as a sexual
pervert for the rest of their lives and have local neighbors picket their homes and hurl insults at them for the rest of their lives...or maybe Bush* could give them all the Medal of Freedom. it is a tossup.

13. The teens in this story also need better parenting....
the school superintendnet said they are youngsters and used poor judgement. They are high school seniors ready to go out in the big grown up world, I would hardly call that being youngsters. Instead of poor judgement I would call it cruelty.

14. My nephew spent his summer vacation
building homes for Habitat for Humanity one year when he was a teen. But then he's from Illinois, and has Democratic parents. Too bad the teens in Alabama haven't been nurtured in the same way.

15. Well consider the role models they have
at abu ghraib and Guatanemo. If it's okay for the military, no surprise that we see this kind of behavior out of our teens.

they can devalue anyone -- including their parents." Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard, ST TNG.

I, however, do not hope these children put their parents in nursing homes and ignore them until their deaths.

22. Children learn cruelty from watching others do it. Just like Gitmo,
Abu Ghraib, Camp Bucca, etc... They are just emulating what they've seen our best and brightest doing to the bad guys in the Middle East and elsewhere. Shouldn't wonder they've started doing things like this. Our leaders have failed us in so many ways, we now have this kind of behavior from our kids. absolutely sick
