I am really tiring of politics and the voting populace
I have watched as the poll workers in my state get older and grayer and yet no one steps up to work at the polls.

I have watched as people complain about the money in politics but they continue to vote for people based on name recognition and money alone...and then are amazed at being hoodwinked by the morons with glitzy campaign commercials.

I have listened to voters complain about how all politicians are bought but the continue to either not vote or vote for the same old politicians because they don't even bother to read...

I am tired of lazy people who don't even read a paper, watch the news or even look on the internet.. and then pretend to have any idea of what is going on in the world....and then bothering to try and tell me...that I am misinformed...yeah right...

I am tired of people wanting change but doing absolutely nothing.

I am tired of people who pretend to be mad but then "really can't find the time to volunteer just now"...but know every freaking stupid television show by heart...

I am also tiring of being a progressive/liberal Democrat who works the polls and donates money and leaflets neighborhoods and makes calls to voters ...and guess what... my party keeps foisting even more stupidly conservative democrats upon me....

I am just tired and perhaps when we wake up with a dictatorship one day people might just figure out that they should have been paying attention!

Perhaps when their sons and daughters are shipped to yet another Middle Eastern country to fight on behalf of Exxon...they might just wake up...

Perhaps when they lose their precious 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home with the garden tub...because the loss of their health insurance pushed them into debt over a brief illness...perhaps then they will wake up...

Perhaps when they are living in the MBNA or Citibank Debtor Camp...they will figure it out...

1. I know how you feel. But I am grumpy tonite
Just got off the phone with a sicko GOP relative and I wonder if people will ever get it . They are so selfish and lazy. And they are lazy. They only work for those things that etertain them. GAG! Sometimes I hate people!

2. And, unfortunately, when
they do finally wake up because of those awful things you mentioned, they still won't have the time or money or means to participate!

I know just how you feel. I've taken on the role of District Coordinator for my district and trying to get people to volunteer has been, surprisingly, very difficult -- and I, too, am angry and frustrated like you are. I think the one that gets me most right now is:

I am tired of people who pretend to be mad but then "really can't find the time to volunteer just now"...but know every freaking stupid television show by heart...

(Well, that combined with a few others you mentioned)

I feel like I'm the Little Red Hen now but I know, in the end, none of us will be eating the bread!

We can't do this alone, and trying to educate, motivate, and persuade people has been like pulling teeth. Where are these folks?

A most depressing moment occurred for me recently at a kid's birthday party where I spoke with the mother there -- known her casually for some time -- and I started talking around politics (trying not to come on too strong and just kinda feeling her out with where she was). We batted around the usual "Things are looking pretty bad..." and all and she mentioned she was trying to pay more attention to the news to get a handle on things as she wasn't all that savvy on politics. Then, just when I thought she and I were on the same page and I was going to ask if she wanted to get involved in my team, she says, "Well, I'm a registered Democrat but I'm not liking what they're doing, blah, blah, blah..." I said, "Where are you getting your news?" "Oh," she said, "I've been listening to Hannity while I'm driving home from work." :banghead:

End of discussion. I didn't want to go off on her at her kid's birthday party. I did mention that she might want to balance out that rightwing hack with some Air America or something. We parted ways ... awkwardly.
