This site needs more female avatars to choose from. Suggestions!
Edited on Wed May-03-06 08:18 PM by MookieWilson
My suggestions:

More Eleanor Roosevelts to choose from.
Rosa Parks as she looked when she sat at the front of the bus
Jackie Kennedy/Jackie O
Katharine Hepburn
Lauren "Betty" Bacall
Jane Addams
Grace Hopper <"">
Eunice Kennedy
Caroline Kennedy
Mae West
Bette Davis
Rachel Carson

Those are the ones off the top of my head. What are some others?

Captain Janeway was the captain of the Voyager in the fourth Star Trek franchise series (Classic, TNG, DS9, Voyager).

Talkin' Bout A Revolution

Artist: Tracy Chapman
Album: Tracy Chapman

Don't you know
They're talkin' bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know
They're talkin' about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs

Don't you know
You better run, run, run...
Oh I said you better Run, run, run...
Finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' bout a revolution

Maybe just ask the admin (and the person who uploaded their own avatar) if they would mind adding their avatars to the permanent collection.

But if you ask me, how about Susan B. Anthony (unless she's already there).

Dear Son:

Hurrah and vote for suffrage! Don't keep them in doubt! I notice some of the speeches against. They were bitter. I have been watching to see how you stood, but have not noticed anything yet. Don't forget to be a good boy and help Mrs. Catt (Carrie Chapman Catt) put the "rat" in ratification.

47. WASPS (Women Airforce Service Pilots)

from http://userpages.aug.com/captbarb/femvetsalso.html :
Unlike other women who served their country in a military capacity during World War II, militarization as anticipated for the WASP, Women Airforce Service Pilots, was never realized. The thirty-eight women who died in the line of duty were buried without military honors. WASP did not enjoy the privileges of other veterans after the war ended, even though they flew military aircraft. Benefits such as the G.I. Bill to pay for schooling, low interest housing loans or VA benefits.

83. Vargas Girls. Sure! The DU folks made little effort to offer women avatars
Edited on Thu May-04-06 01:49 PM by MookieWilson
And Vargas Girls, like Rosie the Riviter helped win The War. Why not!

Margaret Thatcher stands for something , so why not!

Lauren Bacall is a rock 'em, sock 'em New Dealer, why not?

WHY, WHY does DU offer the rapist from "Clockwork Orange" but not Rachel Carson or Katharine Hepburn or the Dixie Chicks?????

Jerry Garcia but no Grace Slick or Janis Joplin?

I made it myself, as I do all my avatars. I used to switch them around all the time. The one I have now was supposed to be just for Christmas and I've left it. I guess I've gotten lazy. :)
