Old people, people marching in a parade, dogs and kids can wear that stuff. But if it's too tight, printed on a shirt pattern to appear "hip", if you wear a cowboy hat along with it, or have a bandanna flag around your head to hide your balding head, if it's something other than just a shirt aka, pants, shoes, gloves, jacket, or any combination of the above, combined with a "support the troops" shirt other slogan emblazoned sign, it's just poor fashion taste.

However, an upside down flag on the seat of ones pants is totally acceptable. That is a statement.

All the other stuff mentioned above reeks of desperation.
