Keith does Milbank and Colbert TONIGHT on MSNBC.....
My impression was...Keith CAVED...but maybe I'm not reading it right. Keith said "Colbert was NOT the story here." Milbank says Bush won the night here...and who knows what the these things do...yadda, yadda, yadda."

Milbanks say "everyone forgets how dreadful the Media is."

Milbank and Keith says the "Cucumber Martini's were just great" and Milbank agreed. Milbank says "Networks call the shots."

I guess that's why we shouldn't expect any REAL REPORTING from Keith and Milbanks OWNERS who have them on the "leash." :-(

1. Am thinking
of writing to Keith and mentioning the "Thank You" site. He may not have heard about it. Keith is usually pretty fair, so maybe he will cover this again from a different perspective.

15. I Know Many Of Us Here Emailed KO Today Asking That He
nominate Colbert for BEST PERSON IN THE WORLD! I emailed, but got no response that it had even been received. I certainly don't think Keith was UNaware of how many of us were in support of Colbert.

As I stated before, I think maybe Colbert got set up!

27. Posted Earlier Today By Nimrod2005...
around 11:00 AM.

Threads are posted and about a minute later... off the page. I've been noticing that threads don't get as much traction as they used to. I'm sure it's because there are more members, but it IS hard to get responses these days.

There was one that I was very interested in today posted by converted_democrat about having your voice heard. Got very little play. He won a contest and wanted responses so he could pass them on to Vilsak. Input regarding what Democrats should be focusing on.

3. That was so sad a line, about calling the shots
They don't believe that, but they were expecting the audience to believe it?

The networks are scared shitless of the WH and will never stand up to it

Keith can't really risk his job, I guess. I'd hoped he had more guts.

Well, now we know Keith's balls aren't nearly the size of Stephen's. A little bigger, maybe, than the most of the media, but not so big as to get him fired.

4. We are all afraid of losing our jobs these days...it is what it is....and
Edited on Mon May-01-06 08:06 PM by KoKo01
I guess MSNBC called the shots and said....dampen that report...and I can understand that Keith thinks he needs to survive another day. Because he's thinking Bush will NOT STAND much longer with average Americans..

It's kind of hard..but if the "Mafia Showed Up" and said they'd kill your children...which way would you go? I think, myself, that if it came to my FAMILY or Kids...I'd "think twice." :-(

It is what it is these days...threatened media/corporate media/Bush media...lazy media...

Take your pick...it "IS" what it "IS." And we are used to it.. There are GREAT ONLINE SITES...so we don't need to put up with theis "Corporate Apologia Shit."

How long will those Indy Media Sites last though in this Climate...

8. Don't mean to be rude, but I think you are making up fantasy scenarios.
I don't think anyone told him to dampen that report. He never dampens anything else and didn't dampen other things tonight. Why he chose to cover this as he did, I have no idea.

The fantasy of some "Mafia" threatening to kill Keith's children goes way overboard...especially when you consider that he HAS NO CHILDREN.

I'll keep watching him anyway. I see this as an anomaly. A disappointing one, but an anomaly.

5. I don't think Keith's afraid of being fired, but I was disappointed.
I honestly thought he was going to be the one MSM voice who was going to stick up for Colbert. As far as I'm concerned, he kicked it on this one. Never should have had Milbank on there. He was useless.

6. The worst part
Was when Milbank said he thought it was a good idea to have tv free press conferences. Oh bull shit. How many times has the White House altered the transcript and nobody would know if we hadn't seen it live.

I just can't figure out what these people think they're doing. I really can't. Exactly how many people have to die before they figure out they're supposed to be dispensing information, not filtering it.

9. Please remember...Colbert sliced and diced the MSM. Even KO is not
Edited on Mon May-01-06 08:00 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
immune.

He (KO) found a niche and, fortunately, it appears he really believes in what he says.

However, even KO has had to walk that line and we know it when he does. Colbert called him, and his colleagues, out.

I can't wait to watch the fall-out, it's going on for a while. MKJ

11. KO has nothing to feel guilty about as a member of the MSM.
Unlike most of them, he's been doing his job all along. He has no reason to feel threatened by Colbert's stabs against them for not doing their jobs.

Nah, I think if anything is at work here, it may be a basic feeling in Keith that if you get invited to do something for an audience, you don't accept and then proceed to rip that audience to shreds. You act polite. You pull your worst punches.

As for me, my feeling is that they had it coming--and if Keith sees nothing wrong with ripping the administration the way he did following Katrina, I don't see what's so bad about Colbert laying down the truth.

10. Report Card HAS Been Issued... Colbert SUCKED!
I LOVED what Colbert presented and am amazed that he didn't flinch or dodge his role. He stood right up there and gave it his best shot. Guess the TRUTH does hurt. And if you have the cojones to call it like it is, it will cost you. These people have the game down pat.

But I don't think I get it! Who invited Colbert?? Who made the decision that he would be so "high profile?" This was the annual BIG EVENT and most DID know that Colbert isn't any "Big Idiot fanny," so what gives??

Almost seems like Colbert was invited just so they could then go out and throw him under the bus!! Just another dirty trick??? I can't say it would surprise me in the least. Didn't think The Fourth Estate could sink any lower. How foolish of me!

As for ElSmirkleRoy himself, he didn't seem all that happy about ANY of it. Even with the double, who BTW is absolutely fantastic! I posted a clip of him here before and don't think I've ever seen anyone imitate anyone quite as well as he did. The Idiot stood there with the smirk on his face for most of that too!

Oh why am I even trying to make sense of this at all?? Round & round & round & round & round we go. Round & round is all there is when you live in the Land Of Oz! Even exclamation points can't do justice to the nonsense!!!!

I really thought that Keith would be one - perhaps the only one - from the MSM to support Colbert.

Sigh.

13. Olbermann is harmless compared to Colbert
his regular yukking up with Milbank and other whores is the main thing that keeps Keith from being a real threat.

17. He played snips. Really? That's something. He got the question out there.
I think it's great that it got some airplay and maybe a few other people besides die hard political junkies (like us) will see it.
I'm feeling better already. He promoted Colbert's routine, even if he didn't fully endorse it.

He works for a company that could be called a "war profiteer". I guess he did what he could and at least got some video clips out there. MKJ

16. If you don't like what Keith said or how he reported it
then email him and tell him so. Tell him that the "press" might be just a bit too close to the subject to determine whether Colbert played well or not. Tell him how the PEOPLE felt about Colbert. Become an arm of the news and make sure you get heard.

Having said all that, I missed the show, but I will watch the rerun later tonight. If I don't like what I hear, I will follow my own advice as well.

22. Many Of Us Did Email Him And Told Him....
but there are days and there are days! I know the "WORD" was out almost instantly that Colbert got upstaqged by The Idiot. The Idiot was much funnier than Colbert, heard that on C-Span's Washington Journal early Sunday morning!

To me, Colbert could have stood on his head and spit wooden nickles and STILL they would have "panned" him. Too many scared Media Robots these days, after all it would be frightful to lose your job. Take a look at what's been happening at the Village Voice! How many have been fired so far, and how many have simply left.

18. No surprise from Milbank, he is the epitome of the MSM
Rather than admit publicly he and his MSM buddies are failures as was brilliantly pointed out by Colbert, he would rather pathetically pretend that it was Colbert who failed. Pathetic, truly pathetic, imo.

he made it known upon which side his bread was buttered

why not somebody else alongside Milbank, at least? a counterposing view?

two against none?

that works pretty well, doesn't it?
