Images the GOP does not want you to see. (Warning - very graphic images.)
The literal translation is "Images the United States does not want you to see." The article is in the language that isn't supposed to sing the national anthem. However, the pictures need no translation.

Thank you George W. Bush! Thank you GOP chicken-hawks!

1. Truly heartbreaking. How could that man meet these people
and not try to do something, anything! to stop this bullshit war? This again proves to me he has no soul or conscience. :(

3. I think our news ought to show this horror. Maybe if these so-called
Bush supporters saw the horrible things happening to a generation of our young men and women, they "might" just say enough is enough. Then again, they probably would just go "War is Hell." Easy to say when your sitting on your couch watching TV. Some pictures are published in TIME, NEWSWEEK, and other political-type magazines; however, I haven't seen the ones where the feet have melted into the shins after they were blown off the bottom of the legs. Also, no faces after being burned almost to death.

I only looked at the first URL and that was all I could take. I remember one someone else had posted and it was one of our soldiers holding what looked like the body of a baby girl in a dress. He was handing her over to someone else. She didn't have a head. It was just a body of an infant. The soldier that was handing the child to someone else was fixated on where the Child's head had been.

Psychologically these young people are going to have to forget seeing these things happening. Now tell me, what kind of therapy does that?? The only one I know that helps someone forget what they are depressed about is electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). They use Insulin to cause the seizures instead of electricity. They don't know how it works, but it works by getting rid of some of a persons long-term memory. One bad thing though, you cannot pick and choose what is remembered and what is gone from your memory forever as it does not totally get rid of one's memory. It's a crap shoot.

11. I'm a psychologist who served in the infantry in Vietnam, and
can tell you that there are forms of treatment, not involving drugs or ECT, that work amazingly well at treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Having pulled myself together moderately well after the war, I have successfully treated many cases of PTSD, some combat-related and others not, and many of them caught up in the Corrections system. I have a great fear that many of the returning soldiers, coming back from such an immoral and vicious war, will not receive the therapy that they need. The kind of hopelessness you express can be harmful to the extent that it discourages anyone from getting help on the belief that only ECT or some equivalent could possibly have any effect.

And BTW--on the topic of ECT, it is sometimes used as a psychiatric last-ditch intervention for depression. I think it works simply by causing temporary amnesia (vitiating the memories of the last 6 months or so, i.e. those that haven't been processed into long-term storage by the hippocampus) so that people forget why they were depressed. It often works for only about 8 weeks, after which both the memories and the depresion come back.

the fact that * stands with a broad smile next to the patients - can't he even pretend to empathise?

Does he HAVE to be so damn cheerful?

13. Empathy is not a concept he understands.
He doesn't even appear to know he should pretend to have it; most sociopaths like him at least know they are supposed to PRETEND. But then, he thinks he is chosen by God, and shouldn't have to bother, I guess. And then, there is the possibility that he ENJOYS seeing their pain. That possiblility wouldn't surprise me, either.

6. the worst part of those photos
is Bush SMILING in every damn one he's in. Meeting with people that he sent off to an illegal invasion, who came back permanently maimed. Like "Wow, my war's going really well! Look at all these amputees I've created!" Sick sick sick.

14. The truly sad thing is...
...these young people are probably convinced that they lost these limbs and got so disfigured, defending their country from the terrorists who attacked the U.S. and destroyed the World Trade Center. They probably just don't know that war profiteering scumbags like Halliburton, and the rest of the chimps cronies are getting rich by using their blood.

The illegal oil man who currently occupies the white house, needs to be held accountable for all of this.

19. If this was an HONEST war, those pictures would be ennobling.
People get hurt and die in wars. That's inevitable. We Americans have often been squeamish about this (see "The Best Years Of Our Lives") but we still remember that veterans who suffered in this way did it to keep our country safe.

But in this war? Built on lies? There may be personal nobility as these men try to continue their lives, but it doesn't ennoble our country or our government, and it just makes me want to weep.

20. I cannot image the hardship
of coming home to my wife and family, blind, at the age of 27.

I also can't imagine that someone can know that this is happening, see the results, and be able to stop it, but just stand and smile for the cameras. Evil thy name is *.

I appreciate this effort to support the troops! All of these images are searing, but the one of Denzel Washington reacting to the unfortunate woman whose face has been melted during her service in Bush's war, with horror and compassion, was one of the most powerful. It was for me, as I am sure it was for him, a life changing experience.

The Neocons assure us that all that is important has been achieved in war. They can kiss my American ass.

Of course, we can take comfort in knowing that all veterans receive the best medical treatment and support :sarcasm:
