Hastert Caught Switching Out Of Hybrid Into SUV After News Conference
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/060427/480/dcpm10904272019

House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Ill., center, gets out of a Hydrogen Alternative Fueled automobile, left, as he prepares to board his SUV, which uses gasoline, after holding a new conference at a local gas station in Washington, Thursday, April 27, 2006 to discuss the recent rise in gas prices. Hastert and other members of Congress drove off in the Hydrogen-Fueled cars only to switch to their official cars to drive back the few block back to the U.S. Capitol. 1. WTF??????
That is the strangest damn story I've read in a while.

I mean, they were already in the hydrogen vehicle. They only needed to go a few blocks away. Why in the hell did they need to get out and back into their real cars?

Somethin just pathetic about that.

there were actually several of Hastert's aides hidden under the seats pushing the car with their feet.

96. It's kind of like this...
You know how in the Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch dissolved with plain water? It has been conjectured that something so evil as the Wicked Witch would experience dissolution when exposed to something so diametrically pure as water. While there is also conjecture about how pure water sitting out in the open, presumably for mopping purposes, actually is, that the purity level is sufficient to cause boils and blisters at the very least.

The same could be said for wards on demons and devils, that somehow they're experiencing a sort of matter/antimatter-esque annihilation in the presence of purity and good, such as holy water, blessed crosses, and aging priests reciting specific biblical passagery while being projectile vomited upon with bucketfuls of split pea and ham soup.

You see, you have the least conservative, most wasteful mentalities in the world when you deal with chuckleheads like Dennis Hastert, now here they are, riding in a car that is eco-friendly and threatens havoc with their spendthrift, wasteful mentality. I suspect they had to switch cars. They may have been experiencing headaches, burning skin, or maybe even crotch rot while riding in vehicles so diametrically out of tune with their voraciously consumptive attitudes.

An SUV. Figures.

Even though they have photographic proof.

If this were a Democrat, Republicans with media access would not be too frightened to go on TV, hold up the photo and call him a liar.

The only hell he caught was on Fox news. Get your facts straight.

Want to watch, now where's the proof, the ad is laughable and proves absolutely nothing.

79. Italia is one of the great dumbasses in capitol hill history
Gawd how I loved her testimony in front of McCain and Durgin when they looked into Abramoff's bullshit. She had to be the dumbest tool I have ever seen on CSPAN.

If she was behind that story, I'm amazed she was even thoughtful enough to come up with the narrative. Somebody else HAD to have fed it to her.

They were lame and poorly sourced, yet their echo chamber was effective in propagating the disinformation. As of today, we don't have anything comparable to rail against the republicans, backed up by fact or not.

37. There's a very reasonable explanation for this
Those SUVs are probably armored. What with DC swarming with terrarists, members of Congress have to spend as much time as possible in armored vehicles when traveling even "a few blocks." And what with our troops in Iraq going without armored clothing or vehicles, it probably wasn't a good idea to mention that...

At present it is likely that Hydrogen powered cars will cost in excess of 120,000 each. They are (or Hydrogen is) HIGHLY explosive... wouldn't want Denny getting in an accident in that car... they might claim some librul put a bomb in it or something...

But Hydrogen it must be. After all it does need Selenium to make a Hydrogen car... and there are only one or two Selenium mines in the world... i wonder who owns them? (hint: BFEE/Russian oligarch)

...a characteristic shared by both sides of the eisle.

Even though I'm not "fat" myself, I still find these "fat ass" comments very childish and kind of "freeperish".

Let's raise the LEVEL, people!

67. The fat bastard could have just WALKED back.
It's just "a few blocks."

Great usage of alternative fuels - have your "offical" gas guzzler driven down a few blocks, then ride the alternative fueled car, then ride in the guzzler back. Net fuel saved = 0.

80. That hypocritical fat-ass looks like Rolling Giggle Puppy!
BTW, Rolling Giggle Puppy was my favorite of my daughter's toys when she was a baby. He rolled. He giggled. He was shaped like Dennis Hastert (R-Lard Ass).

81. They are such scam artists. Bush used props in Miss. (food etc.) when he
finally got around to going there for a photo op. They set up tables with food and water on them and as soon as he left, everything was packed up and taken away.

Then there was the little performance with the flight suit. Not to mention the staged rescue of Jessica Lynch, and on and on. More and more I'm convinced they stage all those terror videos also.

I read that they hired a PR group to 'sell' the war. Rolling Stone did a whole article on the millions that they spend on 'selling' to the public, the lies they know the public wouldn't buy otherwise.

That photographer will probably lose his job ~ but good for him for getting that photo.

Is Hastert running this fall? That picture should be used if he is. I hope someone is saving it before it disappears ~

83. I've driven that hydrogen car
we (the FD) visit that hydrogen safety regularly for information & planning. The engineers had that car (or one like it, I believe there may be 3) for us to look at, & learn how to deal with in case of accident or fire. It's a neat car. But, like I said, there aren't many of them (there may be only 1 here in DC), and likely GM wanted it back. Plus, it's not armored like the Suburban that the Speaker of the House surely rides around in.
