We just acquitted a bunch of cops for beating the living crap out of a black dude named Jude, as well. You don't get jail time for beating the crap out of innocent people either around here. At least the community outcry on that one has been heartening. Our Dem Mayor has spoken out as well. He's a good guy. But we're awfully segregated here in the Milwaukee area, among the worst in the nation iirc.

3. That Arizona case really stinks

Prosecutors are not even trying to convict the two defendants on sexual assault charges. That's very important, because if you are convicted of sexual assault, you get what is effectively a life sentence. These 2 perpetrators are clearly getting special treatment on account of their affluence. If it were you or I we would never again see the light of day. This kind of thing brings the legitimacy of our whole legal system into question.

The worst thing about the Milwaukee case is that the crime was an act of voter suppression. I'm not very forgiving of that. Still, you have to wonder if the judge is biased since he exceeded the prosecutor's recommendation of probation and restitution.

4. I think the sentence for the Milwaukee case is appropriate - but...

...the Arizona case is psychotic. Those two perps should get at LEAST 5-10 years PLUS sex offender status, but as it stands they will probably get NO jail time and no sex offender status - as if raping/sodomizing 18 young boys is like running a stop sign. I mean, these guys are serial rapists. 18 separate accounts of rape!

I emailed 60 minutes about the Arizona case - hopefully they'll expose it to the nation.
