Jennifer Love Hewitt fights back against "fat" comments - Good for her!
http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_17360.aspx

And a pox on all entitled assholes who feel free to evaluate the appearance of every woman in their midst and who believe that they should never have to lay eyes on a woman who doesn't meet some very narrow criteria of "hawtness" on the TV, movies, or any other kind of media. I don't know about y'all, but I've been listening to this crap my whole life, most often from guys who have NO DAMN BUSINESS judging anyone else's looks. If I had a dollar for every balding, pot-bellied man who regularly and loudly opined about how women should look to be acceptable to him, I could retire today. I'm sick of it and I'm sick of it being excused as "boys will be boys" and "men like to look at women" Since when the fuck did being attracted to women give you the right to be a rude pig? Since when did finding certain features attractive give you the right to DEMAND that only women who possess them are allowed to be seen? I turn on the TV and am confronted by old farts like Wolf Blitzer. Do you see me or any other women going around complaining about having to look at ugly old goats all the time?

1. Shit yeah.
This sums it up perfectly:

These are the same guys who bitch that their wives are getting a little fat in the can, yet cling tenaciously to their right to keep the house loaded with crap food and live in front of the TV. They exempt themselves from the need to take care of their health, making both his and her health exclusively her problem.

Good on JLH for fighting back. It would help too if the paparazzi left her alone on her freakin' vacation. Let her enjoy the feel of the ocean on her skin without every asshole in the world dumping on her.

2. Good for her.
The photo of her at the beach shows that the suit wasn't a flattering cut, but she felt comfortable wearing it. Too bad for all the voyeurists who didn't see the airbrushed Playboy body of their fantasies.

3. Yeah, too bad. And no amount of telling those dumbasses about airbrushing
Will dissuade them from their heartfelt belief that the poreless, hairless, cellulite-free nymphets of their favorite publications do not exist in real life.

5. I guess they all missed Jamie Lee's indictmictment...
...of airbrushing, when she insisted that the magazine shoot her "as is," cellulite and all.

"What I'm scared of is that that's what women have become accustomed to needing to feel good about themselves," Curtis replied. "And show business and media and magazines don't help by promoting these images of women that are completely airbrushed, that are completely altered, to then give you, the unsuspecting buyer, this fake sense of that that's what people are supposed to look like."

4. Rock on Jennifer Love....!
:yourock:
My husband was just telling me about this (he prints magazines). Saying he was happy to print a rised middle finger comment to the media's incessant sick body crap, for a change.

He's usually disturbed because they're obsessing about someone who's put on a few pounds and actually looks NORMAL. But of course that sends the actress into a panic of dieting and exercise until they look like a little boy. It's like they aren't happy until the actress has starved herself down to the size of bones, and then they jump on that. It's a bullshit cycle and they are as much to blame as the assholes that perpetuate such sexist comments about women's size and appearance.

It's refreshing to see an actress stand up to it and refuse to be diminished by it--physically and literally.
:applause:
