'I have the diet for you.
It’s short, and it’s simple. Here’s my diet plan: Cook it yourself. That’s it. Eat anything you want — just as long as you’re willing to cook it yourself.”'

1. ROFL .....

I got fat cooking for myself thanks to Julia. Watched her as a kid and learned quickly the wonders of home cooked food. Alas the shopping, chopping and pot watching didn't burn as many calories as I consumed. But I do make a great souffle.

I actually had to stop cooking much to my SO's dismay in order to lose weight. Now I live on fat free dairy, lean meat and fish and fruits and veggies. The more I stay out of the kitchen the more weight I lose... It's a major loss for me, not be able to do what I love- on a regular basis but I stopped cooking to survive.

2. Interesting for me,
as I'm thinking of getting 'back' into the kitchen, tho not in your fashion! My life has changed during the last years, some normal reasons, some not so.

I left house/home; family disbursed ('kids' do that!), so I lost my cooking venue and raison some years ago. Been living with friend in different house, but opportunity now arises to have place of my own, with my own kitchen! Just thought of cooking again! New place may provide incentive to walk AND cook (markets w/in walking distance?)

Bonne chance a nous!

3. LATE new response!
Had semi-annual check-up today, and learned I've lost 7 lbs since Feb. Don't know why or how (except now include frozen non-meat items in my diet.)

Moving Sat., so we'll see what effect 'my' kitchen will have!

4. It's worked for me.
Recently, thanks to a sharp drop in my income, I find that the only way I can afford to eat is never eat out, don't buy convenience food, fix many things from scratch, pack all my lunches for work. I've lost about twenty-five pounds since the beginning of the year. I think there are several things at work here: I can control my portions. There's no hidden ingredients such as sugar. Everything is fresh and tastes quite good.
