Has anyone had any luck with 6 or more mini-meals a day.
I have been eating about 6 meals of approximately 200 calories each a day for the last 10 days. I don't get as hungry & my energy level has stayed more constant. Although have been really tired for about an hour after I work out.

1. I have heard this is what you are supposed to do...
however, I haven't ever really ever tried it. I fear that I would be doing nothing but thinking about or preparing food! The less I think about it, the better... That is the hardest thing of all! ie. not thinking about it.

what are you eating before working out? I am wondering if this has something to do with your fatigue?

2. I work out first thing in the morning & usually just have some fruit
before I work out, but right after my work out I fix myself a health shake that has protein & carbs at about 200 calories. It is my own special mix with fruit & veggie juices & soy protein

I really don't spend much time preparing food. I have my health drink first thing after I work out, 2 other EAS nutrition shakes, my lunch is usually a vegetarian frozen dinner & my other meal is usually salmon, eggs or tofu with veggies.

3. Boy, you sound disciplined! That is great!

I wonder if it would help you to add a bit more protein to your before-you-workout meal of just fruit. Sometimes, when you just have carbs, which is what the fruit is, the after-effect can be fatigue and sleepiness. Were you to balance it more to the protein side, you might notice a difference, I believe.

From what you have described, your day doesn't sound like you are fixing meals all day! When someone says they are eating 6 small meals a day, that is usually what comes to my mind, 'meals'! salads, meats, veggies, etc! (you can tell where my mind is, unfortunately!) However, you are eating much more healthily (is that a word?), and the 'shake idea', certainly makes it easy! Terrific! I've been having an Atkins shake for breakfast; its a high-protein shake, that tastes great. I find I really need to chew something by lunch, so I've been having a Lean Cuisine and an apple. Dinner, has proven to be a problem for me. So far, all my good work during the day, just goes 'splat' at dinner time! I've got to work on portion-size, and what I am eating...

4. Maybe I will try some protein before my work out.
I know what you mean about dinner. I can be good all day with very little problem, then in the evening I want to pig out, even when I'm not really that hungry.

5. Yeah
It worked really well for me several years ago. It curbs snacking and keeps your energy levels from fluctuating throughout the day.

6. Are you still doing this?
I started the same exact thing last week and even though I only lost three pounds that is a huge thing for me, since I haven't been able to get my weight to budge since going through "the change".

My only rules are to eat within an hour of getting up and to try to limit my meals at two hundred cals. give or take. I eat a wide variety of stuff and I'm not at all hungry. Sometimes I eat seven meals by the end of the day if I'm up early. But even that only comes to 1400 cals. total.

I'm pretty excited about doing this. It is actually pretty fun. I work out too but haven't noticed any increased fatigue.

7. I am doing it most days.
During the week, while I'm working, I have at least Myoplex lite shakes. I makes it a lot easier & they taste really good IMHO.
They are also the only powdered shake mix that actually mixes by just shaking it.
It is amazing how you can eat a lot fewer calories & not be hungry when you eat before you get really hungry.
