a happy post
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 10:55 PM by AZDemDist6
Tonight I went to the evening meeting (the first one since I moved here, I'm a noon meeting kinda gal) especially to be there for a guy I watched walk in with a glower on his face and a snarl on his lips.

I watched him at the Sunday meeting every week, show up, slouch in the corner and growl, then slowly move up to the table, then start to talk, then get a 90 day chip, then a 6 month chip. watched him help his family get through it when his Mother died 3 months ago.

Tonight I went to the evening meeting to give him his One Year chip. I bought a card to pass around.

Tonight I witnessed a miracle as that 250 pound man spoke of fear and faith and recovery with a sob in his throat and his wife of 18 years by his side beaming like a beacon.

It's a good day today.

1. Thanks!
I need to hear good stuff like that every now and then to keep my spirits up. When I'm feeling particularly gloom-and-doomy, an Anniversary meeting usually bucks me up.

2. Thanks AZDem!
I really,really needed that!

When the do-do hits the fan, and the walls
come tumbling down, there's sobriety-
the beautiful miracle of a drunk, staying sober,
one day at a time for days, months and years!

Like my dear 'ole dad use to say,
(may he rest in peace)

"Somedays, sober is all I have- but it's enough".

Birthdays are celebrations of this miracle.
I love the see the gnarliest members come around.
;-)

Thanks so much for sharing this.
