I need help locating some info
One of my dad's younger brothers was killed in Korea during the war and in my research his history, I discovered that he was wounded twice before he was killed. What I was wondering was--Is there someplace I can find out what type of wounds he sustained prior to his being killed? I'm trying to fill in as complete a picture of my Uncle as possible.

So does anyone know where I might try searching for this information? Thanks for any help.

1. Cyndi's List has websites that might help
http://www.cyndislist.com/military.htm

Scroll down to "The Korean War".

2. Get in touch with the National Archives...
so you can get his military file.

Here's the link:
http://www.archives.gov/research/order/standard-form-180.pdf

However, since you want the info for your uncle, someone closer than you will need to request it. Is your dad still living? Brothers and sisters can request it, or his wife, if he had one. Also his children could request it.

The third page of the form tells you where to send the form. You could request the military file or the health file, which may have more info about his injuries.

Note: what really sucks is that there was a fire there in 1973. They may not have anything left of the file, but it's worth checking.

My uncle Cal's entire file was burned up, but they did managed to find 2 pages of my uncle Newell's stuff. It was better than nothing. I got my aunt (his sister) to send for it for me.

Good luck!
