incredible story . . .
My son died in a car accident last May and it has been a very tough year. I miss him so much it hurts, but I still very much feel his presence in my life and dream about him often. Usually my dreams are of him holding my hands and him not saying anything, just smiling at me. Last week, I had a very different kind of dream. He came to me and told me he was worried about his friend, Brittany ____________ . I woke up and thought that was very odd and didn't think much about it but did feel the need to ask Brittany's mother how she was doing when I saw her a few days ago. I figured she would say "fine" and go on, like we always do, but instead, this look came across her face and she said she something was wrong with Brittany and they were doing all kinds of tests and couldn't come up with an answer for the cause of her symptoms. She was very upset and I told her that my son said she was going to be okay. She hugged me and we both cried.
I know my son loved his friends very much (and everyone was his friend)and feel that he was reaching out to me to share his concerns but also to let me and this girls mother know that he was still very much around and watching out for his friends. I have not the slightest doubt that life does go on after death, how can a spirit as vibrant and amazing as my son's be silenced by the ending of his physical body. I think we just have to look and listen a little closer and know that our loved ones do continue to reach out to us, even after their physical bodies are gone. I didn't stop loving him because he is gone from the body and I know he also is continuing to love and watch out for his family and friends.

1. I wanted to update this post . . .
I know this may be hard for some people to believe but for others I hope it brings you some comfort as it has me. What I didn't mention in my post is that my son mentioned something to me about "white" in my dream. I didn't know what this meant but when I heard that B was sick I immediatly went and googled in the term white syndrome and came up with a heart condition that causes the heart to misfire and can be very serious. I took this information to B's mother and asked her if they had a diagnosis yet and she said yes, she had been diagnosed with White syndrome that very day. I handed her the information that I had found and told her my son had told me this in my dream that same night. I told B's mom that my son is still watching our for here and she now has a little guardian angel of her own. She says that she has a great deal of peace now, knowing my son is watching over her daughter.
Yes, I wouldn't have believed it myself but I swear that this is true. Love makes people go on when you have that much love for people like my son did, it just isn't going to stop.

3. Thank you Rev . . .
some people might think I am nuts, I wondered myself after I have been having many dreams about my son in the past year but now I know that his spirit does indeed live on and he will be with me always.

4. I have a similar story...
Edited on Sun May-02-10 02:05 AM by tango-tee
A little while ago I posted this as an OP. During my Dad's funeral (he worked for the railroad) the funeral procession made its way toward the grave. Railroad tracks run parallel to the cemetery, and there was a lone engine of the type Dad drove, slowly going by on the tracks, and let out a whistle as it passed us.

No one but me saw or heard it. I was very close to Dad. At first I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but have now come to the realization that this was Dad's final good-bye to me. I think of it often.

I received so many wonderful, sweet and kind answers to my post. Wiping away a few tears as I'm typing this.

No, you aren't nuts. Your child will always be a part of you. Cherish these dreams and memories, dear friend, and let them guide you. They will always soothe your soul.
