Today, 16 Elul 5765, Tuesday, September 20, 2005, we mourn!
Dedicated Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal dies at 96

Simon Wiesenthal, the Holocaust survivor who helped track down numerous Nazi war criminals following World War II then spent the later decades of his life fighting anti-Semitism and prejudice against all people, died Tuesday at the age of 96.

Wiesenthal died in his sleep at his home in Vienna, Austria, according to Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles.

"Simon Wiesenthal was the conscience of the Holocaust," Rabbi Marvin Hier said.

According to Hier, "When the Holocaust ended in 1945 and the whole world went home to forget, he alone remained behind to remember. He did not forget. He became the permanent representative of the victims, determined to bring the perpetrators of the history's greatest crime to justice."

I posted the Kaddish in the LBN thread

Many have expressed their condolences there. Some did it there because they don't have "stars" so they can't post here...I guess.

It was a sad day indeed, but his work will live on!

3. That LBN thread is nice
Except for the people who have to bring up the Palestinians like that has anything to do with Simon and the Holocaust.

4. It is our burden.
We must, as Jews, bear the burden of Israel, even though there are those who claim Israel and Jews are not one in the same, while make us one in the same.

It was nice to see many who could see all the good that Simon did. Of course, it is a s noticeable as to see those who didn't recognize his passing.

Shabbat Shalom (soon)!
