My first thread... I think there were six duplicate threads that night.

It was musical threads. Some people found it humorous, but I swore I would never start another one.

Here in Colliephonia Arnold is trying to trot out the anti-immigrant thing to prop up us falling ratings, and I don't think it's working.

. . . Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Here's party-down Keith celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a few of his friends.
:party: :toast::toast::party: :party: :toast:

If his head doesn't look perfectly round today -- in fact, if it looks a bit lumpy --
it's because he ran into a few 43-year-old women on his way into the studio.
And because he made the mistake of asking, "Hey mom, what'd you think
of the show last night?"

What is that Brit wearing. An aqua vest with a tie, a tan, and a Greco-
Roman haircut. Nice tie though.

2. The three top Al Qeada (never can spell that) are OBL, Ayman Al Zawahiri, and Mullah Omar. How come the Bushies keep catching more and more #3 guys? They can't all be #3, this is bogus. I'll be impressed when anyone of the real top 3 are caught.

3. Hot Tub Tom is going down. I can feel it in my toes. It's now or never.

81. I was thinking about last night's Loews ref on Oddball
and thinking about a brief period of time when I worked there.

We used to have a saying: "Loews blows."

Also, my roommate who also worked there (and gave me the idea) used to sing her own words to that opening jingle they ran at the beginning of every movie before they ran the five thousand coming attractions.

You know--"Thank you for coming to Loews/Sit back and relax/Enjoy the show!"

She used to sing "Sit back and relax/Enjoy your blow!"

Sometimes I still laugh thinking about her doing that.

125. me, too.
My personal credo:
"Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return." Therefore, why stir up the remains of our loved ones? Let the dust sit... it is a theological argument, yet also a spiritual grace.

(I actually told someone that, when in the midst of various family issues, was worried about cleaning her house. She later told me that she often quotes me on the "spiritual insignificance of dust.")

but that's not housework - that's the equivalent of "diaper duty," and that's an act of love.

BTW - what do ferret tails look like?

tails? Ferrets are not rodents but pure carnivores so they definitely do not have rat like tails. They are relate to minks, pole cats and even skunks. And my cats try to help dust but leave fur behind. Will have to find a pic with a ferret tail for ya.

On edit and ferrets use a litter box like a cat but smaller messes.

144. Dust as something spiritual! Now I LIKE that!
It's so much better than just admitting that one is a slob.

Now you're sort of reminding me of Pigpen from the Peanuts cartoons...whose defense for the cloud of dust he raised everywhere was that for all anyone knew he was carrying around the dust of ancient history...dust from the time of the ancient Romans and when Jesus walked the earth and whatever. He didn't see himself as a slob, but as a historian preserving the dust for future generations.

I like that philosophy.

. . . Keith says: "I don‘t know about the big deal about Paula Abdul. I was in LA when she was a Laker girl, and who she slept with then didn‘t seem to bother anybody, 25 years ago."

Then he thanks his guest, turns to us and says, "That‘s COUNTDOWN. Thank you for being part of it. I‘m Keith Olbermann. Just for the record: No, NOT ME."

PS: Cleaning's not an unusual "symptom"; in fact it sounds real familiar!

I am convinced that God sent Keith his verbal tongue-knot at the very end of tonight's show (yet another SportsCenter catchphrase--"in English") ON PURPOSE as his punishment for last night's snark about "the best thing that could happen to a 43-year-old woman"! And as a result he ended the show prostrating himself on his desk and beating his hands against it while the cameras lingered on him for a lengthy loving period of time!

Yeah buddy! Who's "sorry" now????

75. Two points here I'd like to make. . .
Edited on Thu May-05-05 08:36 PM by Elle Woods
Point 1---I believe you all are misinterpreting what Keith meant by what he said last night. The quote from last night (I looked it up in the transcript) "And Paula Abdul gets the best kind of publicity for a 43-year-old woman, that she‘s alive on the dating scene."

Having known Keith for a number of years, I don't think he meant that as a slam to over-40 women but meant to point out that Paula Abdul, as a 40-something woman was dating a 20-something year old man, meaning that Paula is not taking being over 40 as a nail in her dating life!

Also, Point Two, having known Keith for a number of years, I will tell you this much-- he likes younger women.

84. Elle, you are indeed quoting him more correctly than I did
because I rewatched that part of last night's show tonight to check. Even so, I didn't think it was a great thing to say. Besides, and I address this to Paula my dear...if you want to date 20something men, there's gotta be more out there that would be happy to do it than American Idol contestants. Come on!

As for you, Elle...you must forgive me for being a skeptic about your claims of a personal acquaintance with the man, and personal knowledge that "he likes younger women." I saw another online forum once in which someone dropped in making much the same claims. Turned out, as most such braggarts do, to be a troll. Amazing how much blind faith that creature garnered, though, before finally slinking back into the hole. Oh well.

Maybe it's just the fact that I'm a veteran of online forums and I have learned through experience that those who brag the biggest have usually the least to brag about.

93. Excuse me for posting
but I do know him and have for years. My husband has known him even longer, since Keith’s L.A. sportscaster days in fact. Although we live on different coasts these days, we still maintain fairly frequent contact with him. He's one of my favorite people and never fails to make me laugh. He's also a decent, compassionate human being, and yes, one of the smartest people I've ever known.

Berry, I'm sorry you apparently have a cynical nature and have had bad experiences in other internet forums. I however, have nothing in particular to gain by posting here. It is interesting to me to note that although this is the second time you've apparently heard this same information, that you still doubt the veracity of it and in fact, chose to attack me for posting it. Perhaps you have reasons of your own for not wanting to believe what I said? Sorry to shatter any illusions you might have had about him, but it’s very true that he likes dating younger women (think no older than early thirties). That doesn't make him a bad person by any means, just a typical one! Given the chance to date a younger woman, most of them will!

Oh, and one more thing? Before you go off on him again over something you think he's said--may I suggest that you check the actual show transcript next time to confirm what was actually said first?

106. this is especially true right now on DU.
Two long-term posters were banned - they turned out to be the same person. This "scandal" has hit home rather hard for a lot of people, especially those who thought they knew these guys.

So, right now, skepticism is a natural response for many.
No offense - it's just the reality of the internets.

118. OK, you're excused.
Just kidding.

Really, there's no need for such great upset.

I earned my cynical nature honestly--every bit of it--and I don't see it as a negative part of my personality, but rather as one of my best assets.

If you have nothing to gain in particular by posting here, why post, though? I would hope anyone who would post here would have something to gain. I would hope it would be fun.

Of course I doubt the veracity of the information. The troll on the other group actually ended up posting a picture of a mythical "girlfriend" who turned out to be someone else altogether, easily identified by some as a fraud. It was kind of a joke, in the end. But before that, boy did that person have a lot of faithful fans sitting around 'em crosslegged, hanging on every word of the "lowdown" about what kinds of women KO likes (all information, apparently, based on alleged knowledge of what kind of women he allegedly used to go out with back in LA in the '80s...yeah, that's real recent).

Some people get off on that kind of stuff. They like the attention gathered by going into a group dedicated to some celebrity and then claiming to know "all about" said celebrity, gathering a circle of the Great Unwashed around them who will then beg to hear "tales out of school."

Lots of those on the many Internets, unfortunately.

This is no attack--just a comment based on experience. I am sure that if what you say is true (and there's no way such a thing can actually be proven, it either has to be "taken on faith" or not taken at all), you don't need to worry at all about what I think. I mean, who cares, right? If you know you're telling the truth, that should be reward enough. Skeptics mean nothing to someone who knows they're telling the truth.

And believe me, I have no real illusions to shatter. I post here for fun, that's all. And I'm going to continue to do so. If I misquote Keith a bit when I post something on here and then find out I was a bit off later, I will be the first normally to correct myself; I'm honest enough to do that. But I'm not going to make this into a job, and go and be scared to post anything without checking the tape first to make sure I have an exact precise quote! Nah. Too much!

221. Ya know
I'm not gonna beat Keith up for that remark. If he wants to date teeny-boppers who haven't gotten a clue as to what life is about yet, that's his problem. Too bad most men haven't figured out the wisdom of Ben Franklin, who preferred "older" women because we are wiser (& more grateful) than our younger sisters. We've been around the block enough times to recognize a good guy even though he looks & acts a bit goofy.

I tell ya, once I turned 40, I felt so free from worrying about what men think. Ya wanna go out with me? FINE, ASK ME OUT. Ya don't wanna go out with me? FINE, GET OUT OF MY WAY. NEXT! ;)

They ALL say that Alison would be going out with them if she had her druthers!

But I doubt it. After all, I just talked to someone who has known Alison for years and says that...pssst...she likes *younger men.*

Paula Abdul, move over and make room!

Then again, maybe poor Scott Savol needs comforting now that he's finally lost (perhaps because the votefortheworst.com site got overloaded and couldn't register his normal volume of votes).

Hey ladies, he's ripe for the picking!

. . . Each of us received a fresh loaf of bread upon our departure, still warm from the oven.

They were really pushing fortified bread then because of nutritional deficits discovered in the nation's diet (particularly iron in girls) -- but all I remember is how good it smelled and tasted! (And the little blond girl with the curly up-do on the wrapper.)

Sounds to me like all you did was find...a GUY.

A guy who appreciates good snark, though. And who, much like the boy who takes up figure skating and is ridiculed for it, but figured out that hey, it's a quick way to find yourself surrounded by cute girls in short skirts, knows which side his bread (so to speak) is buttered on.

227. Berry, did I tell you I *finally* saw that blog promo w/ KO & his ...
. . . maniacal grin as he zings the paper wad? Saw it twice, in fact.

These *must* be in response to requests! (Yours, perhaps???)

what you are looking for but if you look closely you can see some tail in the first pic. BTW this is what is what is sleeping in my bed 5 nights a week. (the hub seems to keep the feet warmers out of the bed unless lilbear is biting his toes)

What yoga can do for you ferrets get naturally.

"Stop flashing that light in my eyes, can't you see I am sleeping in the middle of the bed hogging it?" Mysti the deaf ferret.

180. Just saw a shorter version of the promo for tomorrow's show
It appears that KO's going to count down his "top five favorite stories of the week."

I dunno about you guys, but to me this smells very much like a replacement for the News Quiz.

contest until some days after May 15th? My hell week is next week and won't have time to try to draw one. (Plus I graduate the 15th and then have the summer off)
